Thank you to Rhonda to bringing The Secret to the world!

I previously submitted a story about how The Secret brought me a miracle when I had a health scare a couple of years ago. Now I want to share how The Secret brought me and my husband our ideal jobs!

In 2011, we got laid off from very good, high-paying jobs with a large company. After 24 years for me and 21 years for my husband, we were shown the door because the company’s branch office we worked at closed. The nearest company branch office where we could apply to work at was hundreds of miles away. Due to various circumstances, we did not get jobs at that office and so stayed in the city where we are still living.

We had used The Secret for other things in our lives and it worked, so now we focused on using The Secret to not only get jobs but get ideal jobs.

With my husband, after getting several less-than-ideal jobs over the space of a year or so, he finally got his ideal job with local county government. He is doing well with his job and his boss and his co-workers like him. He just celebrated his second anniversary at this job. An extra bonus, his job location is two miles away from our house.

With me, after five months of looking for work, though not actively using The Secret, I got a pretty good job, or so I thought at the time. It was low-paying though, and my co-workers didn’t seem to like me and were a bunch of gossips. It was a discouraging work environment.

So, as I approached the one-year mark at that job, I decided I needed to get another, better job. I then said, hey, I need to use The Secret and ask not only for a job but for my ideal job!

I asked for my ideal job, which would use my skills and where future co-workers would like me. I also asked that it would be within 10 miles of my house. The job I had was 15 miles away and, yes, lots of people commute a lot farther than that, but I wanted a job closer to my home, within 10 miles.

So, I asked, believed, received, and felt that I had this job. I visualized and felt how I would feel when I got the phone call that I had been accepted for my ideal job.
I didn’t set a deadline. I wanted to give the Universe free rein to bring me my ideal job at the right time.

So, I waited. I visualized daily, sometimes hourly when I had bad days, getting that phone call that I had been accepted for my ideal job. For three months, it seemed like nothing was happening. I did not give up. I kept at it, visualizing, believing, receiving.

After four months, I saw a couple of ads for jobs at local offices with the state government. While I was unemployed, I had taken two exams to qualify to apply for two specific types of job positions with the state government. The exam scores were good for two years and due to expire in a few months. When I saw those ads for these types of positions, I immediately sent in my applications.

I didn’t hear anything back from one ad. However, a couple of weeks later, I got a call from Human Resources asking if I would like to come in for an interview. Oh yes!

A few days later, I went to the interview. It seemed to go well, though I wasn’t sure, as it only lasted 15 minutes. I thought to myself, I’ve either done very well or completely blown it. I thanked the Universe for the interview and went back to visualizing the phone call that I had been accepted for my ideal job, whatever job that was, this one or another one.

A few days later, I was at my desk at work and I heard my supervisor’s phone ring and heard her answer it. Her desk was near mine and I could sometimes hear a bit of what she said on calls. This time, something told me it was the HR person from the state calling. I had put my supervisor as a work reference as she and I got along okay. She also knew that I thought the job I had was low-paying and I had said, casually, that the company would lose people if they didn’t pay them more.

Well, after she got off the call, she sent me an email saying the call was from someone with the state asking her some questions as I had applied for a position. She wrote that she told them that I was an ideal employee. I replied with profuse thanks that she had said such kind words about me.

A few days after that, my cellphone rang. I recognized the phone number on my caller ID. It was the state HR person! I was so excited! I answered the phone! As I answered, I got up and headed to the break room, as there was no privacy at my desk. The HR person identified herself, said that I had been chosen for the job and asked if I accepted. I said, YES!!! It was all I could do to keep from jumping and up and down and dancing around until I got to the break room, which was empty so I could, at last, rejoice out loud! I called my husband and told him the great news!!!

It had happened!! I got the phone call!!! I was accepted for my ideal job!!! It was exactly as I had visualized it, believed it, received it, felt it!! Thank you, Universe!!!!

Soon afterwards, I had to laugh to myself. When I put the route from my house to my new place of work on Google Maps, the distance was 9.1 miles. I had asked for a job within 10 miles of my house. The Universe has a sense of humor, ha ha! Maybe I should have asked for a job within 5 miles, huh?

I now have been there just over a year. I passed my six-month probation with a great job evaluation and am now a permanent employee.

I like what I do. I’ve had some challenges in the past year with a couple of co-workers who didn’t seem to like me, but I’ve used The Secret and the situation is definitely improving. Both my husband and I feel like we’ve come out on the other side of a dark tunnel of being unemployed and working in bad job situations.
