The Violin
Submitted by: Stephanie C.
San Diego,caSince I was small I have always wanted a violin. Finally in 11th grade I decided to do something about it. Over that weekend I made an exact replica of a violin and bow out of cardboard, with thread for the strings. I decided to pretend it was a real one, so when I had enough money to buy one I would already be familiar with it. My whole family laughed as I began to “play” my violin. It made me laugh too, but I still pretended it was real, and that I could hear the notes I was playing. On Monday, I told all my friends at lunch time what I did. They all laughed, but then one of my friends said, “I didn’t know you liked the violin. My mom tried to make me play it when I was small and I hated it. It has been sitting collecting dust ever since. You can have it if you want.” In the end we both had a happy outcome: she was finally rid of her violin and I gained one.
I had practiced the secret without even knowing it. Now I’m older and know The Secret, I think the next thing I’ll manifest are some music lessons. : )
