The Secret Car
Submitted by: Jaime W.
Orlando, FLI am 40 year old video game designer. I picked up The Secret when The Power came out. I watched The Secret movie a few years ago, but decided now to give The Secret an honest shop and have been extremely happy and grateful that I did.
A little more than a week ago I had a friend ask about The Power. I had no idea what it was, so I looked it up and saw that it was the follow up to The Secret. A few years it was suggested that I read The Secret, but I instead watched the DVD. At the time I was not really open to it, so the message was completely lost on me.
I initially felt the same thing about The Power, but for some reason the idea of The Power would not leave my mind. I ordered both books and dug in straight away to The Secret, really making sure that I was open to the message.
At about this time I stumbled on a couple of intriguing used cars, cars that I had long wished for – a BMW Z4 and a Lotus Elise. I was happy, even loved, my current car, a Chevrolet Corvette, and I could just barely afford it. I was surprised and happy to see that these cars were attainable. I drove both cars and something felt right about the Z4. I began to see this car in my mind, as the book said, as if I already had the car and I loved it. But I took the process one step further. The dealership was offering an incredibly low interest rate. My credit has never been stellar, but I decided to focus on getting the approval at the low interest rate. I saw it as a foregone conclusion; I imagined signing the papers and felt great and thankful for the gift.
The time came to move forward on the car and I set everything up with the dealer and turned in the paperwork for the loan application. I showed up at the dealership and I was happy, amazingly so. I knew I was going to be getting this car. I was then tested in my belief about the car. The dealership was offering much less for my current car than I was expecting or could afford. I thanked the salesman and left the dealership, still happy, as I knew the car was still going to be mine, and that everything would indeed work out.
When I got home I sent a friendly email expressing my enjoyment and thanking them for their time and put it out there that I was still open to making a deal. Less than 10 minutes later I received a call from the dealership indicating that a mistake had been made in their computations and that the car was mine if I still wanted it.
I went to bed focusing on having a great next day and got up with that same frame of mind. I was determined to have a great breakfast, and to just remain completely positive.
When I showed up at the dealership I reached in my bag for the paperwork for my pre-approved, higher interest rate loan and the salesman said that I wouldn’t be needing that as I had been approved for my dream finance rate. I signed the paperwork and drove off with one of my dream cars.
I have begun to read The Power and will continue to create my own reality. Thank you for revealing The Secret…
