The Promise.

Florida, originally from TrinidadGod is my strength. I’m a husband to Melissa and a father to my two sons Dale and Triston. I also have a German Shepherd, Harmony, my best friend.
I remember this conversation like it was yesterday. My oldest son Dale has been a very intelligent child from a very young age. We wanted him to have a very successful future, so we helped him as much as we knew how.
When Dale started high school, we found out the school had a dual enrollment program, so he could graduate high school with his AA degree and his high school diploma. I remember the day clearly when we sat him down and asked him, “Do you think you can handle high school and college at the same time?” His response was quick, “I think so, it will be hard but I believe I can do it.” We talked about all the benefits of finishing his education early so he could get a great job that he loves and start a successful life at a young age.
Weeks later Dale knew what he wanted to be and what college he wanted to go to. He also looked up all the companies in the US where he could work. His vision was to work for a company in California and then open his own business eventually. We were blown away.
I remember the day clearly when I made him a promise. He had college classes every summer break because we wanted him to be done as fast as possible so he could enjoy his high school years. There were some times when he was overwhelmed and this specific time I made him the promise. I asked him if he had to choose a car, what would it be. He was 14 and a freshman in high school at the time. He answered, “A Nissan 37 0z.” I looked him in the eye and said, “If you graduate high school with your AA degree we will buy it for you.” Melissa replied, “Oh yeah? Really? With what money.” I did feel the same way as she did for a second. Where was I going to get the money for this car?
Well, four years later, Dale graduated with his High School Diploma with Honors, his AA degree, and a full scholarship for his BA. He only applied at the one college he wanted to go to, UCF, and was accepted. We were also able to surprise him with his dream car in his favorite color red, which we were able to buy in cash!
Every time that I think of this story it brings tears to my eyes. Once you know what you want and see it happening, you will have it!
I wrote this quote years ago:
See it,
Believe it,
Receive it!
I hope this story inspires someone that it is all possible. How bad do you want it?
