The Powerful Minds of Children

Chicago, ILI had only learned about The Secret two days before my son had a very important swim meet. I was introduced to The Secret by a friend after sharing with her all the bad things that kept “happening” to me. After watching the movie I was so inspired and felt like I had the world at my fingetips! In the two days before we went out of town I watched the movie again with my husband and then again with my husband and son (for a total of three times in about a day and a half)! We decided to put The Secret to the test and so we had my son cross out his seed time for all of his races and write in the time he was going to get. He wrote down times he had previously told me he could never get because his body just could not move that fast. Then before each event, we had him close his eyes and visualize the entire race from the time they called the swimmers up on the starting blocks until the race was over and ending with him getting the time he said. In every event he swam in he was within 100th’s of a second of the time’s he had said!!! He was amazed-and we were amazed!
(As a side note, at the same meet, we also had our seven month old baby daughter with us. To anyone who has ever attended a swim meet you know it’s incredibly hot with hours of waiting to watch your child swim for maybe 30 seconds, while sitting in bleachers-not ideal conditions for a baby. My daughter is still nursing so after arriving I immediately started scoping out places that I could feed her. I went into the bathroom and it smelled AWFUL and I told my husband that I wouldn’t be able to feed her in there. I still hadn’t found a good spot when it was time to feed her so I had to take her in the bathroom. Wouldn’t you know that when I walked in with her there was an open door just to the left of the main door that I swear wasn’t there before (very symbolic… a door opens just when I need it) and inside the doorway was an enclosed toilet with its own sink but closed off from the smell and noise of the actual bathroom. There was no sign on the door-if you didn’t know it was there you would never have found it. I took her in and fed her for the whole meet. It was interesting because I never once had to wait for it to be available when she needed to eat. We just walked in like it was our own personal room-which I guess it was!)
