The Man of My Dreams
Submitted by: L M
New JerseyI am 28 years old, married, and living in New Jersey. I currently work for a top accounting firm and just received a promotion 2 levels up from my current position. I consciously tithe and take every opportunity to express my gratitude to the Universe.
I have been brought up learning the secrets of tithing, decreeing, prosperity, health, wealth and success. There was a priestess who held seminars called the Science of the Mind and Man (SOMM) which taught the same principles explained in the Secret. My parents attended these seminars in the ’70s and for many years after that. They sponsored people to go and learn from it. At nights I would fall asleep to audio tapes that continually spoke to positive thoughts and projections.
My parents started with nothing and over the years built a successful business which allowed me and my brother to live a comfortable life, study abroad, and really want for nothing more. I knew how the universe worked and saw it in the small everyday “coincidences”, but never realized the impact the law of attraction could have on my life, until I used it to attract the man of my dreams.
I was in my mid-twenties, and felt that it was time to start looking for a life partner. I projected at the start of 2006, that I would be engaged by my dad’s 50th birthday, which was on December 14, 2006. I gave myself a year.
I wrote my decree stating this intention, and mentally started preparing myself. I moved back to the Philippines from London in March 2006 and started refining my skills in household chores like cooking, ironing (which I never did during my 3 years of living in London) etc. I changed the passwords of my email, facebook, anything that I used on a daily basis to project this intention.
When I moved home from London on March 1, my now husband visited his cousin who lived just down the road from my townhouse. He is from New York, and took 10 weeks off to study for his CPA exams, and to travel around Asia. My husband’s cousin also happened to be a relative of the family.
Although I had met Manny (my husband) before in 2002 at a family wedding in London, and actually did have a crush for him back then, it didn’t go any further than the occasional email. I never thought our paths would ever cross. He lived in America, a place I swore I would never live, and specifically New York, possibly as far away from my home country that I could get. I forgot the essential rule of the Universe: It does not understand the words “NO or NOT or DON’T”.
We spent probably a couple nights out together with our mutual relative out of the whole month he was in Manila. I was busy preparing for a family wedding in India and didn’t pay him much notice. To make a long story short, he decided to tag along to my family wedding, and that is where we got to know each other.
We started a long distance relationship, which many people say doesn’t work, but it did for us. He proposed to me over the phone in October 2006, and came down to Manila for the formal engagement on December 16, 2006, the date given as auspicious by our priest. Our engagement was just 2 days after my Dad’s 50th birthday, for which he was in attendance. We got married the following year and now live in New Jersey.
Whenever I come across anyone who says that they have difficulty finding their perfect mate, I tell them my story. I am still so amazed at how one thing after another just unfolded in perfect synchronicity. 3 years later, I can’t believe how blessed I am. We tithe together, and give freely to the Universe with much gratitude! I met the man of my dreams at the perfect time.
Needless to say, he didn’t do much studying back in 2006 for his CPA exams. He is studying for them now in 2010, and I know with certainty that he will pass them with flying colors!
