They say, “The only way of getting it is by giving it first.” So here is my testimony:

Certain life circumstances made me believe it was better to be a little practical while loving someone, sharing something valuable, or buying an expensive gift. I still remember my childhood days when I used to get super excited, inviting my friends to my place and planning birthday parties for buddies. But I guess I never got that lucky with friends; I always felt betrayed and taken for granted. It got worse in high school. I just could not understand it. Why wasn’t love enough? So, I developed a perception that the more you give, the more you take from yourself. I was dead scared of relationships then.

But the day I read “The Secret,” it all changed. All these years I blamed myself for not being perfect and thought maybe this was all I deserved. But then came the golden truth! “The Secret” says, “The more you give, the more you receive.” Wow, it relieved me. I realized I was too busy finding happiness in people, but hey! People are made for loving, not for expecting something from them. Rather, the Universe was the source of all supply!!

From that day on, I stopped expecting things from people. I enjoyed my company more, and all I did was love, love, and love everybody around me.

One day, I found a really special gift for my love. I bought it even though that money was the only money I had left for basic expenses, but I did not have any thoughts or feelings of lack at all. And the happiness I got after seeing his face after opening his present was priceless!

Wow, that felt so great! The best part is that I received money from a miraculous series of events that I never could have even imagined. I even got a gift that I wanted so badly!

I now enjoy giving like the way I used to when I was a child. Giving is not just about money or expensive gifts. I also try to give love, appreciation, a helping hand, compliments, and a smile. And I expect nothing in return. But that feeling is so awesome that I do not really have words for it. And yes, when you give, you receive, too. But you receive via the Universe.

Remember that Rhonda Byrne says there is a difference between giving and sacrifice. Sacrifice comes from the idea of lack and does not feel good. Try to know the difference between the two so that you do not sacrifice your peace of mind.

Ever since I realized this, I have received wonderful surprises like a beautiful dress, hats, compliments, free lunches, chocolates, diaries, books, love from friends, and wonderful outdoor dates out of nowhere. This has never happened to me before!! I now have great friends, and all my relationships have improved just like magic! And I have found the love of my life too!!
