Subtle Gratitude at Work
Submitted by: Peter H.
Rolla, MOI was born in 1984! I love hiking, 8-bit video games, traveling, learning foreign languages, diplomacy, high diving and mixing music!
For the past three years, I’ve been a waiter at a Japanese restaurant. Typically, I love my job, but recently, I had a spell where I couldn’t stand the work. Customers were annoying, money was short, and the whole experience was a chore. This changed immediately the day I decided to show some gratitude to the customers and my boss!
Two weeks ago, I changed my book-keeping methods. I’d be recording any payment transaction, and instead of writing something like “Cash” or “Check” on the receipt, I’d write something like “Cash – Thank you!” Immediately, this put me in a much better spirit, and money and happiness began flowing like water from a tap! Finally, when the day came to a close, and I had to initial for my money, I began writing “Thanks!” next to my initials too, and all the sudden, my job’s been kicking out more cash, and keeping me happier!
Thanks so much for the inspiration!
Sincerely,
Peter!
