Profound Power in the Practice

The book The Secret came into my possession as a gift from a friend, Laila, for Christmas (2007). I recommended this to her a long time ago, not as a gift for me, but for her personal consumption, because I thought she could use it.
I had seen the DVD through another friend, but never had owned it or the book. However, I believed in it and had been practicing some of the exercises now and then. I wanted to own one but never had gotten around to getting a copy.
Last year while Laila was Christmas shopping, she called telling me that she was in Borders. My friend asked me the title of the book that I mentioned way back. I knew that she was referring to “The Secret.” Then I told her. Telling me excitedly that all the books on display were 30% off, she inquired if I had a copy. I said no, but I desire to have one. So, I received it in the mail as a gift. I profusely thanked her.
I became serious in practicing “The Secret” in my day to day living. It seems like life for me has become a miracle. It has intensified profoundly since I got the book, and by practicing gratitude each day through the Gratitude Journal that I bought. This is what I noticed: The more I mindfully practice it, the more powerful it becomes. For instance, I have experimented this idea with parking space. Recently, my thoughts are not even mid-way with asking, and I already see someone pulling out in front of me. Same with the green light.
My latest experiment was about my Tax Refund. I wrote a blank check of $6,473 as my desired tax refund for the year 2007. How I came out with this figure was out of the blue. I just thought it would be nice to have a tax refund this big and maybe sort of see if the Universe will grant my request with this odd figure. I placed the blank check on the wall beside my bed. One time my darling cat scratched it off, so I had to tape it on the mirror. I see it every morning as I fix myself. I also wrote each day as one of the things that I thank for with all my heart in my gratitude journal.
One day, I finally got a call from my accountant that he was almost done with my tax preparation and asked me to set a date to meet. With intention, I quietly gave thanks for the $6,473. Then I took a pen and calculator and started doing my math on how I am about to dispense this money that is “mine”. Some for credit card payments, some for tuition of conferences that I am scheduled to attend, donation for a non-profit organization that my mom is sponsoring, shopping, and IRA. It felt right.
Yesterday, I met my accountant. As I signed my completed tax documents this is what I saw at the bottom lines:
State Refund= $1,711. Federal Tax Refund=$5,065. A total of $6,776.00 tax refund year 2007. Awesome!
In my daily lived experience, I have seen miracles that I attribute to the practice of “The Secret”. I cannot write them all. But I truly believe that the power of the mind and profound gratitude of the heart makes our dreams possible. Practice, Practice, Practice.
