Two years ago, surrounding the time around my birthday, I really wanted to donate my birthday to a for-purpose organisation called Pencils of Promise. It gives children an education from places such a Guatemala, Laos etc. So, I decided to download a quote app on my iPhone and write up a ‘Thank you note’ which I could upload on my social media to thank the people who got involved. I never got around to setting up my fundraising page and never donated my birthday that year, however, I never deleted the ‘Thank you’ note on my phone, I just forgot about it.

This year, I picked up the book The Promise of a Pencil by Adam Braun and I read in depth about his organisation and how it came about. I was 20 pages in and I felt like I had cried for 20 years. When Adam went travelling he saw children who were less fortunate and asked a little girl a question. “If you could have anything in the world what would it be?” And the little girl replied with “A pencil.”

Not only did I feel extremely heartbroken, I also felt guilty and ashamed of myself, the amount of pencils I have thrown away in my life, thinking they were no big deal. Anyways, the reason I am telling you this is because I started having a lot more gratitude for the things I was given in my life, such as an education. These children want an education and I used to hate school, I never appreciated it because I was just given it.

But something that night lit a little spark in soul to get involved. I wanted to give back so I decided this time I would set up my page early and donate my birthday to them. So that instead of receiving gifts, my friends and family would donate money instead. We have raised enough money so far to send 5 children to school and that is from just one birthday!

Then, on my iPhone the other day it showed me what I had done on my phone a year ago, there it was, the thank you note, ready for me to upload.

I know this story wasn’t a huge success story but the reason why I wanted to mention it is because I had that the thank you note in my phone and I didn’t even know it. The process and visualization that I used, worked.

Also, in The Secret it says that the Universe will bring all the right people and circumstances at the right time and place and it made me wonder. Did those 5 children who are going to attend school use the law of attraction without even knowing it? Have they asked God or the Universe for the chance to go to school? And have I played my part for them? Thank you, thank you, thank you.
