I had resigned from my previous job which was so stressful and time consuming, with terrible co-workers and a high tempered boss. So when I got employed at my current job which is much less stressful, with a good-natured boss, excellent co-workers and a salary more than twice my previous job, one would expect that I would be complacent with the salary I was receiving.

As was in the job contract, my salary is bound to be increased every year, by an amount which only the boss decides. After reading The Secret and knowing that anything is possible, I decided to test this principle with my salary increment, so I wrote a letter to the universe asking for an increment of 54.5% or more.

What??!!! I must be crazy. But Rhonda said it is just as easy to attract just $1 as attracting $100,000. Mind you, I am not that experienced in my field of work, I am kind of learning on the job!

The time came for my boss and I to negotiate my increment and I laid it down flat to him that I wanted a 54.5% increment. All of a sudden his countenance changed and he started to explain to me that the highest increment he can give me was 10% considering the inflation rate of my country. I did not agree to this so the meeting was inconclusive.

Just this morning, after about 15 days, he called me for a meeting and started confusing me with some breakdowns of percentages. This percentage for transportation allowance, this for that, this for that (Note, bosses want to be bosses). The summary of it all is that I got my 54.5% increment and I am so happy! Just as I visualized myself that I would be if I get that increment.
