My Residency Short Story.
Submitted by: Rae Coelho
IndiaI came to NZ on a student visa in 2019 and now working as an HR specialist in NZ. This is my story, what you ask for you will definitely receive.
I applied for my New Zealand NZ residency on 30th Nov 2023 with a 50/50 chance of getting it because my job was not a job that is listed in the residency category. Only with the help of faith did I apply for my residency. I used to read a lot of stories on how some people submitted all their documents, they had an interview with the immigration, and they finally received their residency in just 2 to 4 weeks. I got excited reading those testimonies. However, these were only 3 out of 10 cases who got their residency in a month’s time.
I visualized every single day that my immigration advisor would call me and say, “Do you have a seat next to you? You should sit down because there is amazing news.” I always cried my heart out when visualizing this situation.
When Christmas finally came, I still did not get any call from the immigration office or for the interview. I was disheartened and asked God to please give me a sign that my residency had been approved or at least let them call me for an interview. I had all the preps done to answer if they asked me for an interview regarding my job. I did this even though I internally prayed that they approve my residency without the interview.
I then listened to Rhonda Byrne’s interview, where she says something like, if you are wishing for a car, and you have already received it, would you still keep visualizing or affirming that it is coming or that you have it?”
This hit me hard, and I stopped visualizing. Instead, I gave thanks to God for this amazing life, for my health, for my job, for my money, and so on. Every time I took a walk, I felt as though I was already a New Zealand resident. I felt the air, and I felt what it felt like to live in New Zealand as a resident. I really started to believe it, and I felt free.
After doing this for a few days, my mom called me and said she was in a prayer meeting, and she heard the Pastor saying, “Rachel, your prayers have been answered.” I felt this was the sign that I had asked for from God.
On the 19th of January in 2024, a week after my mom’s call, my immigration advisor called and said the exact same thing that I had been visualizing. “Rachel, are you sitting on a chair? Do you have a seat next to you? You should sit down because there is amazing news. Your residency approval has come through!”
The 19th of January was also my dad’s birthday. My dad passed away a few days before my birthday, and his funeral was on my birthday. During my dad’s funeral on my birthday, I remember saying to him, “Dad, you pretty much ruined my birthday for me, so you better give me something in return to rejoice about.” And on his birthday he gave me a very big gift, my NZ residency.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!
