I have been trying to get into a PhD in Clinical Psychology program for two years and promised myself and the universe that if/when that happens, I will share my story on this website. I will keep in brief and hope this inspires other people to reach their educational objectives and career dreams as well.

I had a low undergraduate GPA, limited coursework in psychology, and mediocre research. I tried for two years to get into a program but never got in. However, I never lost hope and always knew that I would fulfill my dream of being a clinical psychologist having a private practice and teaching on the university level.

It was May 13th. For some odd reason I decided to Google a university in Boston and saw that the application was due on May 15th. I said to my boyfriend “It’s too bad I missed the cut off date” and he encouraged me to apply anyways saying that if I really focused I could complete it within two days. I did and coincidentally we later went to Boston for a short trip to visit some friends.

I loved my short trip and really visualized myself there and even packed away clothes to give away in preparation for my move. Well, imagine my surprise when I got a REJECTION! I was shocked and crushed and puzzled, especially since I had given it positive thoughts and was so sure I would get in.

Anyways, sometimes the universe gives you a test to see how bad you really want something. I never lost hope and still kept applying to different places, determined to meet my career goals.

Well, a month after my rejection, the director of admissions called me and said they decided to review my application again and decided to ADMIT ME!!

This just happened this week and I am shocked and stunned and so happy at the same time. Now, I can really see my career goals manifesting and I have no doubt that I will have my dream private practice, my dream tenured professorship, and everything else I want.

This week, I am looking for apartments to live in and have no doubt that I will manifest the perfect apartment. I also am manifesting my boyfriend moving with me and finding a job he enjoys.

The moral of the story is don’t give up hope! If I can do it, you can do it too! Best of luck to all of you applying to college, graduate school, professional school, etc. May you all have your desires granted and may you all achieve the degrees and careers of your dreams!
