Battle Creek. MI21 year old, single, aspiring novelist, and true believer in the Secret.
I have implemented the Secret into my life in full force. Although I’ve only been doing it for a couple of weeks, I’ve seen major changes in my life. I’ve watched the movie several times and each time I watch it I realize something new. Something that will improve my efforts or open my eyes. The best way to show how it’s worked for me is to start from the beginning.
I have a job at a movie store that I like very much, but simply don’t get enough hours. I’ve truly been to hell and back trying to get a second job that made me happy. The morning before I watched The Secret I applied at two bookstores. One was general and one was Christian. I just wanted to be around books. I applied at both, but when I went to the Christian store was not given a very friendly greeting. She was snobby, rude, gruff, and practically bit my head off saying that she didn’t take “walk-in talk-to”s, and that she only called someone if she was interested. I killed her with kindness and left. I told my friends about it and really doubted that I’d have a shot at that job. THEN I watched The Secret.
Right afterwards I sat down and wrote as if I already had a job at a bookstore, and how it was exactly what I wanted from a job. I even imagined myself in the first person walking in and out of a bookstore like I worked there.
The very next day I got home and went right to the answering machine like I always do. As the operator told me the time of the message, something else told me that it was about a job. Sure enough it was, AND it was the Christian store! She asked me in for an interview. I’ve NEVER been called for an interview before. It’s always been me pursuing the job; not the job pursuing me. 45 minutes later I was on my way there. Part of the drive I told myself, “It’s going to be great. They’ll offer me the job right then and there. It’s going to be awesome.” Not only did I say this, but I felt it. I felt myself get excited to the point I was smiling on the outside.
As I sit down for the interview (the angry lady from before was the interviewer) she says (in a sweet tone I didn’t know she was capable of), “I wasn’t planning on giving any interview till next week, but there was just something that intrigued me about your application.” I was shocked! To make it more shocking, rather then asking me back for a second interview like every other interview I’ve had, she offered me the job right there! To top it all off I love the job. It’s relaxed, and everyone is sooo nice.
If that doesn’t convince you, then read this. I had had a small argument with my little sister over the phone. When I hung up I just kept thinking about how mad I was. No matter what I tried I couldn’t think of anything positive. My only solution was to call my cousin and talk it out with her, but I knew she was with my aunt and probably wouldn’t answer. Plus, I was calling on a strange phone and she doesn’t answer numbers she doesn’t know. As it rang I kept focusing on her answering, and to my shock she did! I know that doesn’t seem like much, but just keep reading. Yesterday I was at her house watching The Secret with her. Afterwards we were discussing it and I mentioned the phone thing and her eyes got really big. She told me she’d been waiting for my call and had decided to check her phone for messages. As she picked up the phone it started to ring; she didn’t recognize the number. She then told me that her husband always says “Just answer the phone” when she doesn’t know the number, and as she looked at this new number she heard his voice in her head saying “Just answer it”, and she did. It was me!
I’m an aspiring novelist and dream of writing full-time with books on the best-sellers list. I’ve applied the Secret to that; picturing myself at book signings and such. In the past couple days I’ve written almost three chapters. The words just seem to flow through me. No longer do I get stuck not knowing where to take the story next. The best part is as I write I keep coming up with ideas for later in the book. If this keeps up I’ll finish the book sooner then I thought and hopefully soon after a publishing company will be handing me my first big check.
Another wonderful thing that’s happened is I’m getting a dog. I’ve wanted a small dog for so long, but just cant afford it. Adoption fees are far too high. My sister called me yesterday and told me she’d found a small dog for me; a one year old female in desperate need of a loving home. The best part is that she’s free! I’m picking her up today and I’m fully confident that we’ll make each other very happy.
It’s clear that the Secret has changed my life. I have so many more stories to prove that too. The future is something I’m looking forward to now, and I thank God that he brought this movie to me.
