Back in elementary school, I was a nobody. I was just like everyone else in school blending in with the crowd. I usually got average grades and I failed my quizzes every now and then. Whenever it was time for the distribution of report cards, I would get so nervous hoping that I wouldn’t get any failing grades. I would usually score around 82 to 84.

Every recognition (or graduation) day, the top students of our class are recognized as scholars. They will be called one by one up the stage according to their rank. Each of them gets discounts on their tuition fees. Wow, I thought. They must be drop dead smart and their brains must be like… 5 times the size of mine. I used to look at them like some kind of gods thinking about how high their grades were.

Last summer, my dad bought a DVD of The Secret. I watched it and tried to put it to test to see if it really works. My goal was to be at least one of the top 5 students in class for the next school year. I truly believed it in my heart that I already achieved this goal. I even took an old report card and changed my grades written there to help me visualize. Every day, I would make sure that I was feeling the way I would feel once I achieve this. I also visualized myself coming up on stage and being recognized as a scholar. I also took all my test papers with good scores and compiled them. Everyday, I would look at them and give thanks for them. I make sure that I’m feeling so much gratitude. When I do this, I know that I am attracting more good scores. I also changed my perspective on school. I changed my emotions towards it. I started to love school and enjoy every day that I’m there.

The first quarter of the school year was amazing. I came in the top 4! My classmates were very surprised with me because I never had such high grades. That quarter, I didn’t have any grades below 94! I wasn’t surprised at all because I already believed that I was a top student before I actually became one. I was blown away that The Secret actually works. Now that I’ve proved that this stuff really works, I’m just dying to try it again on bigger goals. I felt so excited thinking of how big the achievements are that I could achieve. So, I set a new goal, a bigger one. My goal was to be top 2. I intended it! And guess what? I achieved it!

Now, I have a different reputation in school. Students, teachers and everyone else in school know me as this smart girl. I am top 2 in class! I am so proud of myself, and I’m not the only one. I always hear my parents boasting about how smart their daughter is. I am now a scholar! It was just a fantasy but now, it’s a fact! I’ve made my parents so proud and also helped them financially because of the discount on my tuition fee that we get to enjoy. I’m very excited to achieve even bigger things in the future. Maybe someday I’ll be president of the student council or maybe I’ll graduate valedictorian. Maybe after high school I’ll go to college and graduate as summa cum laude. What about after school? Maybe I’ll be president of some big company or something! I decide my future and I decide who I want to be!
