One fine day, during my college days, I had this intense desire to have a piece of chocolate truffle cake. I could’ve just gotten it from the local bakery but I wanted to get it for free. I wanted to see for myself whether the method of attracting a cup of coffee mentioned in The Secret movie is actually real. So I started visualizing myself savoring the pastry, remembering its wonderful taste, its welcoming color, and just everything about it.

Days passed which made me wonder if this was going to work. But mind you, this was not my first manifestation. I have achieved far greater goals, often winning against powerful bureaucracy. Somehow, this manifestation was not to be seen anywhere close.

At one point I let it go, forgot about it and went on with my life. Then the magic happened. One evening at the end of the month, I was feeling so hungry. I was craving to have something nice but couldn’t go out to eat as I had already exhausted my monthly pocket money. As I was roaming around aimlessly, frustrated with my condition, I saw my former roommate and close friend going out to eat. She was all dressed up. Since she is my close friend I started pestering her to take me too. She actually owes me one but then she politely refused. I felt thoroughly embarassed for behaving in an indignified way, not even thinking about my reputation.

I went back to my room and started listening to a podcast story series. An hour or two later I got a call from her that I picked up reluctantly. She was at my door with a chocolate truffle pastry as an apology. Well, after what had happened, I denied it politely but then she insisted that I have it. I couldn’t help but smile at the strange ways the Universe can get your desires manifested.
