How To Get The Impossible.
Submitted by: Jolly
LithuaniaMy real name is Jolita, but my friends call me Jolly. I'm a student of creative and cultural industries. Someday I hope to bring joy to people with my art like my favourite artist's do for me.
I have been meaning to share this story but for some reason I kept delaying it. It happened on April 25th day of 2016. I remember how I woke up on Monday to watch a livestream interview of one of my favourite artists, even though I would be 15 minutes late for class. I could barely keep my eyelids open while making my breakfast and listening to the interview. I knew that at the end of the livestream the artist’s was going to give away 2 of his original sketches. I really wanted one so badly. But so did 600 other people. However, it was worth listening to his livestream because when the time comes for the giveaway, we all needed to be fast to answer his questions. I knew that I am not a fast typer and I might not know the answers to the questions, but at least I wanted to try.
The first question was “What major did he study”. I knew the answer, but I was too slow to type it down. Just my luck though, the first one who answered the question right was a student of the artist and they can not participate. So I could still win the first sketch. The next question was “What kind of software does he use”. Again, I knew the answer, but I was too slow. And then I knew that this is my last chance to get the second sketch. I put my fingers on the keyboard, waiting for the next question like a runner for the signal to run. And then I hear “What’s my favourite artist?”. I instantly typed the words “James Jean” like they were my last words. I knew this because the artist mentioned it in his interview and those who listened knew this too.
I did not expect much of anything. But I hear drumrolls and after that “Jolita”. My hands started to shake, the joy welled up from inside of me. I couldn’t believe I had won it! It was a dream come true! I got up from my chair and for 15 minutes I put my hands in the air and danced like crazy.
Even though I had to get ready to go to the university and outside it was cold, raining and snowing, it felt like it was hot outside. My groupmates asked me why I was so red and they thought that I had a temperature. But it was euphoria. I felt like I had won a medal in the Olympic games. My secret was that I had felt this kind of feeling way before I knew about this interview. I had read that to get something nice and awesome, you need to feel like it is the best thing ever. Jump around, do a victory dance, shed some tears of joy and something amazing will appear.
So please, do yourself a favour in the future. Feel the euphoria now.
