I haven’t submitted in a while but I feel really good about this so I’m pretty excited to share with you all.

I’ve wanted a dog my entire life, my mom’s a cat person so we’ve always had cats. Never would she ever consider letting me get a dog. I’ve been asking for one for as long as I can remember. I still live at home while I save money and I’m probably starting school in the fall.

Recently my friend’s Australian Shepherd had a litter of 8 puppies and I just fell in love with a tricolor girl who I started calling Ruby. I had her picture as my phone background and every time I opened my phone I’d thank the universe for her being my dog. After a couple days of feeling really strongly good about it I started talking to my mom about perhaps getting her.

What had taken me my entire life time before took me only a week to get a yes. Just days in she started saying things like “If we get the dog” and soon started saying “When we get the dog.”. My entire life, the idea of having a dog while living with my parents seemed impossible but as soon as I changed my outlook and was positive and grateful, things fell into place so fast.

Ruby, about a week ago, was old enough to take home. As I write this, I am so happy to say Ruby is taking her morning nap next to me before we go on our walk.
