Regaining Hope

Chicago ILAbout a year ago, I got out of a very serious relationship. During the relationship I had pushed my friends and family away and also became depressed. Due to the depression, I had relapsed into a previous struggle I had with an eating disorder. My close friends and family did not even know how to deal with me because of how crazy I was acting over him. I felt as though I was nothing without him.
One day I went to a psychic to try and get answers about my broken relationship and life. Not only did she give me eerily accurate information about my relationship, but, she recommended that I try reading The Secret. I was to the point where I would try anything just to put some pieces of my life back together, so I went and bought the book. As I would finish a chapter, I would try to do something small. I remember the book saying to start small, and imagine an empty parking spot in a full lot. It worked for me. So the next thing I imagined was receiving a check over $700. At my job, I had just ended my internship and took a part time position with the same company, due to school. For my first check the company accidentally kept me at my internship pay, which meant a check over $700. Next I imagined having my life the way I wanted it. Before I knew it, I was meeting new, wonderful people and living my life how I wanted to.
About six months after all this happened, I wanted to find a 9 to 5 job. At the job I currently had, I worked at 5am and it was hard to work those hours with going to school full time. I kept imagining what I would wear to work, how my desk would look, and the kind of environment I wanted to be in. One day I got off work and I had a voicemail from an unknown number. It was a local insurance agency offering me an interview. They had found my resume on a career website, and were interested. I know The Secret was at work here because that resume I posted on the website was two years old. In the end, I did end up getting the job, and I am currently very happy with it.
Since I have read this book, some things that have happened are not sheer coincidence. The force of attraction is very real. It has been a year since the first time I read this book and I can honestly say my life has changed because of it.
