A Work in Progress
Submitted by: Buddy M.
Charleston, S.C.I grew up in a small town. Served in the Air Force in Vietnam. Owned a small business but lost it due to a financial downturn in the 1980's. Recovered and went back to flying for several years. Went to work for an architectural firm doing restorations. Did project management for a commercial construction firm until 2007. Currently still unemployed.
In January of 2008 I met the love of my life. As our relationship went along it became more and more difficult as I couldn’t seem to find any kind of work. I lost a considerable amount of money as the stock market tumbled.
By mid 2009 I had spent most of my savings just trying to survive. The fear of spending all of my savings and running out of money put me under a considerable amount of stress. At the same time, my girlfriend was becoming more and more frustrated with me for my behaviour. The stress of no money and a now stressful relationship finally took its toll. I ran completely out of money and lost the love of my life.
Some time before, my girlfriend gave me a copy of The Secret. In despair I read it, cover to cover, and resigned myself to follow its teachings. It is now 2010. I do not have a job yet but I expect to find one soon. My girlfriend and I have begun talking again, and I have spent my extra time exercising and maintaining my health.
Thanks to The Secret, I am no longer depressed or stressed about my situation. I am confident that I am now attracting my best possible future and am thankful every day for the good things in my life, no matter how bad they might first appear.
