Manila, PhilippinesA mother of 4 lovely children, a businesswoman and loving every minute of this "new found" life...
I don’t know if any of you heard about our country, the Philippines, that is now under a state of calamity. A strong typhoon hit Metro Manila and most of it is now buried in water. A lot of houses were washed away. A lot of people climbed to their roofs so as not to drown. A lot of families were displaced.
Where I live, water was knee deep and this was the first time I had actually experienced flood. Right beside our condo is where my office is and the owner of the building was calling me to tell me to start saving the stuff I can, like the computers and important documents. Being glued to the TV the whole morning watching the news, I did not hear her call or see her text message.
My partner who also has an establishment in the same building told me about the calls I missed. He was telling me that we should start clearing our stuff out but I was not worried at all. I even took my time before braving the water to walk to my office. I knew in an instant and felt that nothing bad has happened and the water has not entered or seeped through.
Soon as I got to the building, the other tenants were already lifting their stuff and transferring it to a safer place. Still I was not worried. I opened the steel roller shutter door just to prove to myself that not even a bit of water has entered my office. It was no surprise that it was totally dry!
I am grateful for the power that is within to change things by just thinking of them. I have read The Secret and continue flipping through the pages everyday for I know that my life has just begun.
