How I asked for one liver and got two!
Submitted by: Franchie S
Boucherville, Canada64+ mother of two sons and grand-mother of one boy and five girls. I was married ten years and now live a singles life supported by the love of my family and friends. I am retired and spend time doing volunteer work at a residence for the aged. I also visit people in the hospital that are awaiting or have just received a transplant. The rest of my volunteer work I define as spontaneous help which just arises around me and is the reason why I am still here to do and talk about my story.
You might not want to include my story as several of the happening in my life I did before I read your book (in French) What I did, came from my faith and what I thought came from my relationship with God and my angel.
I was raised in a happy but not rich family where love was ever-present.
I was married at 21 had 2 sons after the loss of 3 pregnancies. We divorced after 10years of what I thought was a happy marriage. Due to lack of financial support from my sons father, I found myself in poverty. However I survived by focusing on the positive in our life. Every night I thanked (Father) for every good thing that happened to me in the day:
There came a time when my situation was so desperate that my nightly prayer was: Thank you that we, the three of us, are in good health, that we have a roof over our head and were able to eat our three meals today. Sometimes I would give thanks for the friendliness of people encountered and for the love of friends and family. My work provided me with some success and I could ameliorate our situation. My sons both have acquired a positive attitude in their life
In 1998 I had a stroke and focused on the positive diagnostic of the possible retrieval of locomotion and independence. I worked hard with the physio and thanked God that the stroke did not destroy too many cells so I could fully recover physically, which I did.
At the end of 2004 I was diagnosed with a severe liver problem necessitating a transplant. My blood type is the most difficult to match and a wait of 3 years was expected to find a compatible match.
In March 2005 I sat in my hospital bed alone in the dark and I said: Father I give my life and my health into you hands, I dont make conditions of time or how you do it and I wont bitch at the situation. Three weeks later the nurse told me that they had a match and the surgeon had gone to collect it. An hour later she came back to tell me that this liver was sick and I would have to keep waiting. That night in bed I said: Father I know I said I would not bitch at your methods but let me remind you, that you have not finished your job. The next day they found another match which I am wearing today. My recovery was so fast that the nurses called me the miracle one.
Every day I thank God for my health and for this new day that I could have missed, and I will live it as well as I know how. I know I went on too long but it was a shock when I read your book as I recognized things that I do by instinct or inspiration and faith maybe.
Sometimes I find my lack of funds disturbing but I have now thought of trying the same manipulations I used to get a healthy new liver. Why is money such a hard thing to pray for? I’ll have to finish your book and do better.
Your book is being passed around in our small apartment block of 60+ residents.
Thanks for what you’re doing!
