BIG little things
Submitted by: Vivi
ARA believer.
I am so grateful.
Sometimes it takes little things to remind you of the power within. They become part of a larger picture, of a secret revealed right before your eyes, every day.
About 3 years ago, I had found the perfect pair of jeans. I used them so much that they were torn to a point they could only be used at home. Anyway, I bought those jeans at a thrift store, and so when I wanted to buy others to replace them I noticed they were actually from a brand that I could not possibly afford to buy. Not only that, they were of a particular style, a particular size, and a particular line that was no longer for sale. And so I set myself out to look for them wherever I could. Clearance stores, E-bay, anywhere on line, with no luck.
I found The Secret about a month ago, at a time that I needed it the most. My husband and I have been through a financial transition phase (thank you, I am learning a lot from it), so I decided to pay attention. I went to the library and rented the audio books. I went online and showed the clips to my husband. We have been practicing “The Secret” for about that long.
Three days ago, I told my brothers fiancée I wanted to show her a new store that is like a high-end items consignment store. We went, and I knew I would just go window shopping because, seriously, at that point I had no money to spend freely at all. So, here I am just looking and waiting for my brother and his fiancée and I suddenly get a hunch about my jeans. Mind you, there were about three rows of jeans in my size. But I just went to a particular place in that sea of jeans and said, This one here, this is my pair of jeans, stretched out my hand, took them out and yes, there they were, my 6R, A&F, Emma stonewashed jeans! I knew they were for me, so I gave thanks, did not worry about the money (because I AM A MONEY MAGNET) and went to pay for them with a huge grin. While waiting in line, I was playing with an accessories display and my fingers touched something in silver that called my attention: it was a small charm with the word Believe engraved on one side, and Like theres endless possibilities on the other side. I said thanks, and got it, because it was for me. I only spent $23 dollars that day but I was feeling like a multimillionaire!
I thought about writing a different story, with other wonderful things that had happened since we paid attention. But I rather talk about this one, because it might look like a pair of jeans is just a pair of jeans, right? Of course, you and I know better: it is all the same, my Emma jeans or my house on the Lake, a $23 purchase, or a $10,000,000 budget.
I am so grateful. I repeat it a thousand times while writing this story, wearing my favorite jeans and my priceless necklace.
