The education I thought I could never have

This story begins back in my high school years, my relationship with my parents was very strained and they put me down constantly. Due to the negative environment at home, I never really found my true potential in school. When my grades didn’t reflect success, my parents would bore down on me more.
Upon the ending of my senior year in high school in 2005…I did not graduate. I failed one of my required classes and was not allowed to get a diploma. The failure was embarrassing and it completely destroyed my relationship with my parents. Two weeks after graduation, I emptied my savings account, moved out of my parents and got a place of my own.
I worked full time and supported myself for about one year. Then, in 2006, one of my friends approached me with a DVD simply entitled “The Secret”. I did not watch it at first and after a couple of times with him asking me too, I sat down and watched it. After viewing it, I was crying. I watched it again…and then again…and then again! I couldn’t believe the message I was hearing! It was then in 2006 I decided firmly and faithfully that I would get my diploma and after two months of watching the “The Secret”, I did.
But then I saw my other friends, they were going to college and doing their own thing in their lives. Now I wanted to go to college and pursue a higher education, but I didn’t think with my performance in High School I would be able to do so. So I kept working, moving from job to job.
Until one day in 2008, I visited a friend who attended the University of Oshkosh in Wisconsin. He told me about his studies and his career path that he was working towards. I told him that I wish I could go to school. He had me fill out an application for the school. The next day; I sat down and watched “The Secret” and I remembered my experience back those couple of years. I took a deep breath, forgave myself of the past, released it and gave thanks for the present situation. I turned in that application for the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh.
Now, I had a GPA of 2.6, I had never taken my ACT nor did I have a way to pay for my college tuition. But I put those thoughts aside, I scheduled a date to take my ACT, I paid the fee. I returned to my high school, I was worried about the test, but found myself completely calm and collected and the test was over with a breeze. When I did get my results from the ACT, they were the best scores, but I held to my vision. Soon, my results were being sent in along with my deposit fee.
Everyday I held to my vision of going to classes, studying, doing things on the campus. I visualized what I remembered from visiting my friend and emulated his life in my mind for my purposes. I was filled with gratitude and I KNEW that college was going to accept me. Then, the day came in February of 2009, a letter from the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh….I was ACCEPTED!
I screamed at the top of my lungs, I crunched the paper in my hands and danced everywhere! I kept looking at that paper and I started to cry because it was then that I COULD BELIEVE THAT EVERYTHING AND ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE!
I want to send out my eternal Gratitude to Rhonda and The Secret Team and to the people who shared their stories on “The Secret”, without you or your inspirational words I would not be where I am today! Thank you, Thank you, THANK YOU!
May the Universe reign eternal abundance and joy upon you and your loved ones!
