Chicago, ILI'm a stylist and writer living a great life in Chicago.
I had to share my story, because when things were bad for me, I would come to The Secret website and read others’ stories to get inspired again.
Over two months ago, I was laid off from my job as a makeup artist. It came as no surprise to me, because I was already a huge believer in The Secret, and I had allowed myself to become very negative at my job. I decided to view the layoff as a blessing, and that I would proceed to land my dream job.
A couple of weeks after losing my job, I received a letter that I was ineligible for unemployment benefits. I didn’t let that letter deter me; I was determined to stay positive. I focused on wealth and abundance, and any time I started to feel otherwise, I would write in my gratitude journal, and I would treat myself to something, even if it was just a magazine.
Money kept finding its way to me, through gifts, or small jobs. Even my tax check this year was the biggest one I had ever received!
Unfortunately, near the end of March, I started to slip. I began to let fear and doubt fill me. I had no idea how I was going to pay April’s rent. I second-guessed if I was going to get the job at the company where I really wanted to work. I knew that this was no way to get what I wanted. So I pulled out The Secret book, I visited the website, I watched funny movies, I did anything and everything to make myself happy. And four days ago, I told myself that THIS week, I would get my unemployment money, AND the job!
Today I was on the phone with my mom, when two phone calls came in, back-to-back. After I got off with my mom, I checked my voicemail. The first message was the job offer. The second message was from a gentleman at the Benefits Dept, apologizing for the mix-up, and saying that I would be paid for every single week that I had been unemployed. I started crying tears of joy, and just kept saying, “Thank you!” out loud, over and over.
I believed in The Secret before. I had manifested small things, but this was huge. Within five minutes I had both of my wishes come true! I have wanted to work in fashion for SO long, and now I’ll actually be styling shows!
I really and truly hope that whoever is reading this, you will take this advice: Get clear on what you want. It wasn’t until I figured out just what I wanted that I could focus on it and make it come true. Then, believe you can have it. I had my down days, too. Lift yourself up. Know that good is coming to you. It really is.
Thank you to The Secret Team, and to all those who posted stories that kept me hopeful! Oh, and I should also mention that my other dream is to be published…so get ready! 🙂
