Debts, be gone!

Alberta, CanadaI am happily married to my loving husband of 20 years and we are blessed with two wonderful kids.
First of all, thanks to everyone who have shared their stories in this website. They have inspired me, and it makes me happy knowing that The Secret is making a difference in their life.
I heard about the book from the Oprah show and from one of my friends, but never really read it until about a month ago. My husband and I watched the video about 2 weeks after. I’ve mostly been a positive person, but since then I have noticed a big difference. I’ve become happier, more relaxed, and received so many things. Parking spots, seats on the bus or train (it was always full before), free coffee, money coming in more freely (I never ever won anything in the casino before reading/watching The Secret), small wins or free play on lotto tickets, free gifts or free food, etc.
I read about pretending bills as checks in the mail, and was inspired by that idea. I used to dread the mail because it always meant bills to pay. I practiced the “pretend thing” and finally managed on staying positive when getting the mail. Over the weekend, I was filing bills and was in that good feeling, pretending they were checks in the mail and giving thanks for whatever service or benefit we received while filing them. If it was electricity bill, I said “thank you for your good service” and so forth. In the middle of filing, I noticed that our binders were getting full. It was then that I realized that we have been filing these stuff for years even when we’ve paid them (either in full or in part). It suddenly dawned on me that keeping all these receipts was like hanging on to debt so we were never free from it. When I realized what we have been doing, I told my husband that we didn’t need to keep them as we have already paid them so I was getting rid of them. While I was shredding them, my husband came over and helped me go over some piled up papers. I told him to say, “I release you; you are paid” when he put the outdated invoices and receipts into the garbage. He did it and I did the same.
There are some outstanding balances (will be gone soon), but I tell you, I felt like a lot of burden was lifted off my shoulders shredding the past invoices, receipts, and credit card receipts and getting rid of them. That night we went to a friend’s house and on a whim, invited us to go to the casino. Guess what! My husband won $220, I won $61.40 and my Mom won $120. I do believe we’re in the right path to financial freedom.
Thank you, thank you, thank you.
