How I came to watch this movie
Submitted by: Frank A.
Pretoria, South AfricaI am a sixteen-year-old male.
I remember visiting the local DVD rental store, not knowing what to rent. I scanned through the reasonably endless shelves of new and old DVDs, and my eyes caught the sight of the intriguing cover of The Secret’s DVD box. “Wow, I’d really like to watch that, it looks really interesting,” I thought to myself. “Though these others I’d like to see more, as I’m not quite in the mood for a movie of mystery.” At the time I thought The Secret was yet another adventure movie, though it looked to be above the rest. It stood out and I remembered it purposely, telling myself that I’d like to see it someday, remembering the name.
This went on for a few more times, until I finally decided that I would no longer visit that DVD rental store as its prices had skyrocketed, and so I gradually forgot about the movie.
I went with my Mom to dinner with a friend of hers, and spent the evening (going well into 1AM) with her son and daughter. I ended up really enjoying myself and decided to stay the night. Before I went to bed I told myself that it was a mistake, as I was missing someone from home. The next morning I awoke and the previous feeling left my mind, and I started to enjoy it again. I stayed for another two or three nights, until their mother had taken us out to a property to do some maintenance work. On the way back we stopped at a local DVD rental store, at which we rented a Playstation 2 game. On the way back their mother told me that we were going to watch a movie called The Secret. I asked what it was about, but she told me that I would find out for myself.
I was looking forward to this, as I remembered back to when I first saw the movie. I watched the movie later that evening, and the least I can say about it is that it has had life-altering effects. I see things very differently, and school is no longer the torture chamber it had seemed to be.
After watching this movie I thought about how I had come about to watching it, and it all seemed to make miraculous sense to me, and I silently giggled a short giggle.
It is now six days after I viewed it, and its effect is still strong. I am determined to keep this movie’s effects in memory, and I would actually purchase a copy if I feel that I should.
This is my story on how I came to watch the movie. I hope it has had some impact on the reader, as it surely startled me.
With regards,
Frank.
