Chicago, ILI am 32, partnered for almost 6 years with a wonderful man, and rediscovered my joy!
I have wanted positivity in my life for a while, and was strangely drawn to The Secret last week. I read the book in two days. I started out “simple”… I wanted my free cup of coffee and a few other things. On my way to work, I planned on stopping at the place that always gives me a free cup, so I could claim the Secret worked. A friend called and the call was more important than coffee, so I was unable to stop in. After work, I stopped by the other coffee shop that gives me free coffee. They made me pay for it. So, I did not let it get me down. I knew I wanted my free coffee and I wanted it today… but I would be just as happy when my free coffee came tomorrow.
I had a rehearsal that night. I arrived about 15 minutes early, and as I was crossing the street a lady called out to me, “Hey, you need to go across the street. They are giving away free coffee.” Wahoo!!! Who knew that the coffee would come in a most unexpected place. My faith in The Secret became even stronger!
That was really the icing on the cake for the day. I needed to work with no distractions the same day. The person who tends to distract me had to leave work early that day… something that I asked for before I got to work.
Then when I got home there was a purchase I wanted to make online for $40. The price of the item was $60. I wrote the company and asked if I could pay $40 for the item. They responded immediately, saying that they could only give it to me for $54.95. Instead of turning to my old habit of saying, “I can’t afford that”, I said, “Oh, even though I want to spend $40, I can afford to spend more!” So, I called the number given, and a different person answered the phone. I told him about the price offered to me, and he responded, “I do not know anything about $54.95, but I can give you a 20% discount.” HA! I leapt for joy. Now the price of the item was in the $40 range.
“Ask and you shall receive. Seek and you shall find. Knock, and the door will be open to you!”
How grateful I am for all things!
