Katy, TexasI have three wonderful children, a daughter and two sons; 24, 19, and 6. I was a single mom for most of their life, struggling to make ends meet, and at the same time trying hard to protect them from the stresses life brought me. I did not want my hardships to affect them in any way. Not an easy task. This is my condensed story.
For thirteen years I was married to a man who emotionally abused me. Without realizing it, I allowed him to change how I felt about myself. I went from having the highest self-esteem one could have, to feeling and looking like I was the ugliest and most useless person in the world! With my friend’s and families’ help, I finally decided to get a divorce. The only thing I got out of this marriage was my two precious children and my car. I knew it would be tough, but I knew this was the right thing to do. With my children being so active in school and the community, I had to get really creative with finances, but managed to keep us afloat.
Then I met a man I thought might be the one! But, after being married to him for four years, I realized he was even worse than the one before! He was an alcoholic, and had managed to drink up what little money we had and put me into even worse shape financially. He just wore me out emotionally and physically. I described this marriage as feeling like I went through Hell and back. But, like the last marriage, I was blessed with a precious little boy!
While divorcing him, I had one child in college, one in junior high school, and an infant to raise, with very little child support. We ended up living in a 900 sq. ft. home, with no stove and very little heat in the winter. I used a microwave and an electric one-burner to cook meals. The police were always in and out of our neighborhood. I knew something had to change! I was humiliated and felt like a horrible mom because I couldn’t provide a decent home and a safe place for my children. We deserved something better! I decided to passionately pray for, and visualize, having this wonderful man that would love me and my children. Someone that would provide for us a warm and safe place to call home.
Unbelievably, one month later, I met that wonderful man, one year to the day after my last divorce was final! I am so blessed, he is exactly what I wanted and what we needed! I am happier than I have ever been! I finally believe in love at first sight! We knew after two weeks that we were meant to be together! And, a year after I met my husband, my sister had mentioned this book called “The Secret”. I told my husband about it, he bought the book, read it, loved it, and then ordered the movie! He was so intrigued, he insisted that I see it. It was amazing and very inspiring! The movie described exactly what I had experienced! I knew then that I had realized the secret to life! I had stumbled across the most amazing secret, a year earlier! Through my faith in God and your instructions, “The Secret” has made such a profound change in our life, you cannot imagine! For six months we have practiced the Secret! Every morning when I get up I thank God for everything and am so grateful for what I have! It is so amazing, I have shared it with my children, family, and friends! My husband has that great new job he wanted and in a few weeks we will be moving into our dream home! Best of all, I no longer have to work! My health is great and I now have time for my children and grandchildren! I am even thinking about writing a book to help single parents! Who knew your own mind can take you to places you never dreamed of? You just have to be grateful for what you have, believe, and you will receive! Thank you for sharing the Secret!
