I could hardly believe it worked
Submitted by: Tom H
Los Angeles, CAA Human Resources professional for 8 years now, I was previously an actor all of my life.
I saw The Secret movie in late October, but simply because I was home and had no plans, and saw it was available on demand.
I loved it and watched it a second time in the same day. I figured I had nothing to lose, so I spent the rest of the weekend thinking about nothing but career and financial stability. See, I’d been working at a job I enjoyed, but my finances were spiraling out of control. I wanted a new direction in my career and new financial stability.
That Monday at approximately 3:45 in the afternoon I got a call from a recruiter. Out of the blue. He wanted to talk to me about a potential career opportunity. I couldn’t believe it.
Over the next two weeks, we went through the interview process, but had not discussed the financial arrangements.
They extended me an offer that had a base salary that was $20K greater than what I was making. I’m serious, an almost 32% increase. Plus, the new job had a bonus structure, unlike the one I had. If I do well, this position pays 50% more than my old one.
Of course I took the job, and am enjoying it very much.
