One red rose

CanadaA university student almost finished my Bsc. with a great network of friends and family and a love for painting and dancing.
A couple of weeks ago I was feeling a little overwhelmed and stressed, so my mother bought me a single red rose on her way to get groceries, and told me she had brought me the most beautiful and smelly rose she could find. Just that day I had read a story on the website and decided to test out “The Secret” with this rose. My flowers in my room always wilt very quickly. A week is the maximum time that they generally bloom, regardless of how well I treat them. I asked for this rose not to die, and tried to really believe it would not.
Eventually, it did wilt and dried out. Looked quite pathetic, in fact. Every day my mother would come in and tell me to throw it out, and as much as I thought it was done, a side of me just could not. The other day I finally went to throw it away, since it looked so sad there in its vase. As I pulled it out to toss away, all along the length of the stem that had been obscured by the vase were tiny little new growths of green leaves, even though the water had long been gone. To someone else this may not seem like a big deal, but I know that this was because I had asked for it not to die. Now as I look at the wilted flower hanging off the top of it, I know there is more to it than meets the eye.
