One Day Changed Everything

SwitzerlandA girl who feels lucky.
A lot has changed in my life since I watched the movie of The Secret a few years ago.
At the time I was 24, living in the States, working 50 hours weekly and having only two weeks vacation a year. I felt very tired from it all. This wasn’t the lifestyle for me so I was considering of going back to my home country. I made this whole plan to quit my job and travel there over the summer and figure out what I wanted to do. I knew that going back permanently was not a good option for me and that my life would be even more difficult if I were to live there, but I wanted to at least give myself a little break. I was tired of routines. Everything in my life was so predictable.
Before quitting my job I wanted to use all of vacation days. My sister suggested that we go to Miami for a music festival during spring break. In no time, we had everything booked and we had one more friend join us. It was a three day festival but unfortunately, we missed the first day because our flight was delayed due to a fire that broke at the airport in Miami.
I was a little disappointed that we missed the first day but forgot all about it as soon as we arrived the next morning. We had a great morning at the beach, a nice walk around downtown and in the early afternoon we headed towards the festival. I was never into electronic music before going to this festival but I really loved everything. I was having so much fun, taking pictures with complete strangers and dancing the whole day. My sister said she had never seen me so happy. The atmosphere was amazing and that made me feel great. I had gone out of a bad relationship shortly before going on this trip, so I felt like this day was for me.
Sunday began as another great day and the atmosphere was even more amazing. It felt like there was magic in the air. Our friend noticed that I was sharing stares with a guy so he asked him and his friend if my sister and I can take pictures with their hats. They even took a picture with us and the guy I looked at earlier stayed and danced close to me.
We started dancing together and we kissed at some point. I was completely in the moment and I did not care that I knew nothing about him. By the end of the evening I only knew his name and that he came from Switzerland. When the concert finished I only ripped a part of my ticket with my name on and kissed him goodbye.
To cut a long story short, I did see him again.
We were in a long distance relationship for a year before I moved in with him. We have been living for almost two years together now, in Switzerland, and we are very happy together.
When I went to Miami, I didn’t know what it was, exactly, that I wanted. All I knew is that I wanted a change and I was ready to take chances and risk everything in order to make it happen.
If you want something, don’t hesitate or obsess over it. Just enjoy the process of it becoming a reality.
