The Sofa

Budapest, HungaryI am a 36 year old lawyer from Budapest.
My first wife used to work as an assistant lawyer for a solicitor, who was specialised in labour law. I remember that afternoon when I visited her at her workplace. The law office was in a beautiful villa in a rich district of the town. I was shocked by the quality of the furniture, especially a sofa and armchairs in the room of her boss. Most of them were genuine antique pieces. I told myself that it would be wonderful to have an office and stuff like this, but when can I afford to buy stuff like that?
Years passed, unfortunately we divorced, and I gave up my job in the bank. Furthermore I decided to start my own practice as an independent solicitor.
After 11 years I searched for a new office (as I counted, it was the 8th office I moved in during the last 11 years. Although I had very nice offices, there was always a little dissatisfaction, sometimes because of the quality of the district, traffic jams, noisy streets, etc.).
My present office was offered by a friend of mine who is a pro real estate trader. She asked me to visit the house together. On that Saturday in March, 2007, I met the owner of the property. I was amazed by the beauty of the flat (the building was built in the beginning of the last century, it was in good status, located in the same district of the town where my ex-wife used to work), and the quality of the antiquities in it. Unfortunately I was not allowed to buy them. The owner consoled me by saying to contact with her husband – who was also a lawyer – because they had a cottage in the countryside, and there was lots of nice furniture and he would show me the unused ones.
On the way to the cottage we started to realize that probably we met before somewhere. After a few minutes I asked him about his sphere of activity. He told me he is a labour law specialist, and I told him at once my former wife’s name. He also realized that I was her husband.
In the cottage he showed me different tables, chairs, etc. I chose a few of them, but I felt something was missing. We made our trade, but going back I discovered a sofa with two armchairs in a dark corner of the living room. I asked for them as well, and as a symbol of the miracle of our unique encounter he gave me them free of charge, the value of them is approx. 4,000 USD!!!
When the stuff was moved into my office, I became shocked by the recognition, that this was exactly the same furniture I wanted 11 years ago.
When two weeks ago my friend – who was the master of ceremony at my second wedding – told me a lot about the Law of Attraction and The Secret, I felt I have to buy the book. I am sure you know the rest. This was the first story which came up in my mind as the verification of the existence of THE SECRET.
I wish all the best to all of the believers of the Secret.
