Attitude Of Gratitude
Submitted by: Miranda L
WIA mother with 2 small children.
For the past several months I had been unhappy with my job. While I was happy that it allowed me to stay home during the day with my children, I was usually upset about one of the other less than perfect aspects.
True to the LOA, the more I focused on the negative parts of my job the worse those things got, and I even started losing business until I started worrying about finances. On top of that, my husband and I learned of some costly unexpected home repairs. We didn’t know how we could pay for these repairs, but they needed to be taken care of so my husband wrote a check for the first payment. I worried by the time the work was to be done we wouldn’t have enough to pay the bill.
The next day I had a moment of clarity where I realized that recently God was putting me literally face-to-face with situations and people that should have been reminding me that my life, job, and financial situation could be far worse. Suddenly, I remembered The Secret and how I should be thankful and focus on what I want more of.
That same day I unexpectedly came into about a half week’s worth of pay. I received a check in the mail for a payment I was waiting on. I sold an item which I had paid only $1 for, and someone showed up with money they owed me.
I started thinking about what else I could do to bring in additional income, but given the job I already had and family commitments I had limited availability. The very next day an opportunity came to me that fit the days and times I could work. When I did the math I realized that this additional side job, when done for a year, would pay me the same amount as the cost for our home repairs. Later that same day someone I hadn’t been in contact with for a few months contacted me with new business.
I just can’t believe how much has happened and how fast! For the first time in about 6 months I am excited to see what the future holds!
