Miracles Happen

IndiaFeeling Blessed :)
Hi. Thank you Rhonda for this beautiful book and everyone who have shared their stories on this forum.
I have always believed in magic. No matter how hard the situations became, I always had faith that one day everything will fall in place. And every single time, things happened my way. I went to the college of my choice, stayed in the city I wanted to stay in, etc.
Today, I have two incidences I would like to share.
While I was still in my college, I wanted to go to this particular institute for my summer internship. I tried very hard to get in and did everything possible to be there. However, I couldn’t. I was disappointed. However, I did not just give up. I realized that my grades could be holding me back. So I worked very hard and earned surprisingly very good scores. So I started applying to that institute again. I requested every department of that institute to accept me. Time passed and I wasn’t getting any good results. Slowly everyone around me started giving up hope and asked me to apply somewhere else. I did so, however, I did not give up hope.
Something inside me told me that eventually, I will be there. When I had just a week left before joining some place else, I decided I’ll give one last shot. I went to their website again, and went through the entire list of scientists and departments. Astonishingly, there was a new scientist who had joined in the department of my choice. I sent my cv and got selected! Withing a week, I packed my bag and started my internship. I was extremely happy! 🙂 Everyone was surprised.
The second incident was around the time of my graduation. I had read The Secret around this time. I had always thought that no matter what, I will work somewhere abroad and have a huge pay scale. I started applying in many companies abroad for 6 months trainee-ship. However, either they had no positions available or they had no funding facility. I tried for months but had no luck. However, I would read The Secret and the stories and just believed. I then got a positive response from one such firm. However, he could not fund me. He wanted to interview me but when I agreed he went on silence. I didn’t hear from him for weeks. I didn’t know what was going on. When I sent him a mail, he said that he won’t be able to fund my case. However, he agreed to take my interview. So it happened. Now was the problem of funding. I wanted to go there and started looking for scholarships, but couldn’t find anyone fit for my case.
The manager who selected me was very kind and helpful. He started looking for ways he could help fund me during my stay. Luckily there was a vacancy for summer intern. The person who had been selected decided to back out. That position was apparently a funded position. He asked me to apply for it. He suggested that they could fund me for some months and later on he would fund me for the rest of the stay. What followed was a month of ups and downs. At one point, while things seemed fine, the other moment, I faced complications. I didn’t know what the outcome was going to be. Finally I was told that my contract was being prepared. However, time passed and I still didn’t receive my contract. I didn’t know what to do. At times, the manager told me that the contract would be only for a duration of 4 months and I would have to return home and extend my visa and the contract would be renewed for the remaining duration. It was complicated.
I still somehow believed that something will happen and it’ll all be fine. And lo! On the last day of my college, I received my contract. It was for the entire 6 months. That meant I had no more hassles of returning home, extending visa, blah, blah, blah. What was even more surprising was that my stipend stated on the contract was more than that I was expecting, i.e, that was mentioned in the ad of the particular summer program. I am actually the highest paid student of my entire college batch! I have even received my visa and I am all set to go.!!
These were the two miracles that happened in my life. All I wanted to say was don’t give up. No matter what, believe in yourself and your dreams. Good luck to all. 🙂
