Bali, IndonesiaAndra Vomir and Richard Gill traded in their corporate jobs for the life of their dreams. They share their story on Instagram (@loveandrich http://instagram.com/loveandrich) where they post photos and inspirational stories from their travels.
We are Andra Vomir and Richard Gill, a recently engaged couple that was living an ordinary life in Toronto, Canada up until a few months ago.
Having grown up in Toronto, Canada we grew up to believe that success meant getting a good corporate job that pays the bills and having an abundance of materials things like a nice house, car and so on. We worked hard to build the careers that we both wanted for ourselves. We often tried to convince ourselves we were on the right track when it came to building our life together.
But what we really had always dreamt of was travelling the world. When we thought about quitting our jobs and packing up our lives into two backpacks to travel we immediately felt overwhelming passion, excitement and joy fill our bodies. We knew we weren’t living life to our full potential, but we really didn’t know how to take the steps to fulfill the life we have always dreamt of.
Andra’s mother had purchased The Secret a few years back and has always been an avid supporter of its teachings. After reading The Secret, we both knew what we had to do if we wanted to manifest our dream life into reality. We had to change the way we thought.
Instead of believing it was impossible to quit our jobs, we began thinking it was possible. We began focusing on all the reason why we wanted to travel, rather than how we were going to go about doing so. In other words, we shifted our thinking from negative to positive.
We would envision ourselves travelling throughout Europe, South East Asia and Australia. We would talk for endless hours about the food we would eat, the people we would meet and the amazing sights we would see.
This change in thinking was what ultimately helped us reach this dream life. We visited Cluj Napoca to reunite with Andra’s Romanian roots and introduced Richard to her family. We stopped in Italy to indulge in alici fritte and see beautiful views of the Amalfi coast. We visited Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand and now Indonesia to immerse ourselves in entirely different cultures. If we manage to part with Bali in the next few months, our next stop will likely be Australia.
Needless to say, we are absolutely in love with the life we have manifested for ourselves. We now understand that true happiness was always at our reach and it was just a matter of us shifting our thinking to believe anything is possible.
