Dance Like No One Is Watching
Submitted by: June S.
Capitola, CAWhen I was retired and widowed 10 years ago, I began to do two of the things I loved but had never had time to do, writing and dancing.
Even before watching The Secret or seeing the founders on Oprah, I practiced the Law of Attraction. But then, I was also inspired to subscribe to Notes From The Universe, so as to remind me daily of how the Universe works for us.
As suggested, I filled in the wishes request when registering for the Notes, as if those wishes had already been granted. One wish had me earning much higher payments for writing columns. The other had me finding a fun, sexy guy for partner Salsa dancing!
Right after that, two friends emailed to let me know about writing opportunities they saw on Craig’s list. I applied for two of them, provided my writing samples and was accepted by both. I’ve been writing for one of the online sites, examiner.com, for almost four years and recently went from one column to three. The other site allowed me to write two columns a month for two years. Then when that door closed due to a change in management, another two local organizations hired me to write for much higher pay. I have all the writing I can handle, along with special perks like invitations to fabulous dinners and overnight stays, due to my wine and food column.
Now for the dancing! My daughter owns a dance studio and of course I passed along my love for dance to her. Soon after she opened her very own studio. She introduced me to a young-ish senior gentleman who she has known through the dance world for years. He used to teach Salsa classes, but now gives private lessons and takes Zumba classes at my daughter’s studio to keep in shape.
Through my Zumba classes, I got to know him and even wrote a column about how his “day” job was such a contrast to the dance part of his life. Then, and without going into complicated details, my daughter arranged for him to give me two private Latin partner-dance sessions a month.
I am in Seventh Heaven! We get along great, and sometimes even take “field trips” by going out dancing. He has also become my favorite escort for the many lovely events I am invited to through my writing. We have been doing these sessions for almost two years and I am finally learning to be a pretty good partner dancer! I’m not thinking of him as a potential husband, although I do feel an attraction when we are dancing, so it feels good to be able to express my sensuality in a safe way.
Can’t think of another thing I could ask for!
Oh, yes, another thing I got to do that I somehow had missed out on, was a trip to Yosemite. The Universe arranged for me to get a private tour with a stay at The Ahwahnee Hotel with a neighbor who gives small group tours, except she gave me a personal tour.
But it seems that once you start living the life of The Secret by showing gratefulness every day, these things happen on a regular basis.
Life is Good!
