My Dream Car
Submitted by: B.J.
CanadaI am a 43 year old Wife & Mother of 2 (5 including my step-children).
We bought a used car 11 months ago. Although we would have loved to have a Mustang GT (my husband rented one 5 or 6 times in the last year and 1/2 for special occasions), we knew that it was out of our financial reach. We settled for the car we could afford. Which I must admit, my husband hated!!
9 months later, we got a phone call from the car dealership saying we were paying too much interest and wanted to re-write our car loan. We didn’t know that re-writing a car loan meant puchasing a different vehicle with a lower interest rate. My husband set up a meeting for the following Saturday. We went to the dealership for our 10:00 am appointment and there, parked right beside the door, was a 2005 Mustang GT. Black with Red interior. Absolutely beautiful. Someone just traded it in the week before. We walked around the dealership looking at different vehicles, but we both kept comming back to the Mustang. We took it for a test drive & made the deal. We were both pretty emotional when we left the dealership. You see, my husband has had a heart condition for 11 years, and I always wanted to see him drive the car of his dreams before anything happened to him.
I rented The Secret DVD last weekend, and when they were talking about closing your eyes and imagine driving that new car … we did that. I asked my 16 year old son if it was a coincidence that the Mustang was parked in front of the dealership. NOPE … we wanted it so bad, thought about it so often, that it happened.
I now carry a grateful rock in my jacket pocket. Every time I put my hand in my pocket, I think about the things I am grateful for.
