A Home For My Son
Submitted by: Lauren W.
Bryan, TXI am a 29 year old single mother and I work in the nonprofit sector.
Two years ago my husband left my son and I for another woman. I have worked vigorously to piece our lives back together. I moved to Texas, landed a wonderful job and I am currently dating an amazing man that loves my son and I dearly. One of my close friends had read The Secret and raved about. I heard her out and was intrigued, but being that I was a single mom and working in the nonprofit sector, taking the time to read a self help book did not fit into my schedule. The book sat on my night stand for one year. So, last month I picked it up and began to read.
Mind you, at this point in my life I feel that I have recovered from the aftermath of my divorce and now I am moving forward. I live in a small duplex and have been looking to buy a home for my son and I. However, being a single mom with only one income, the neighborhoods and houses that were in my price range did NOT meet the standard of living I want for my son. So, I began looking at foreclosures about the same time I began reading The Secret.
After weeks of searching I found “The One”. It was a beautiful, lake front, two story home in a neighborhood that I could only dream of living in! I thought “this is the perfect time to apply The Secret”! I began calling the house mine! I placed a bid for about $30,000 less than the bank’s asking price. One week later I got a call from my Realtor, the bank had declined my offer.
I kept a positive attitude and still claimed the house as mine. A week passed and I checked the MLS and the property was listed as “under contract”. I referred back to The Secret, I was still claiming the house as mine. A few hours later, I received a call. The bank had come back and accepted my original offer. The house was ours!
By using The Secret I was able to purchase a dream home for my son, within my price range. We close in a few weeks and already have our fishing poles ready! I am now applying The Secret in my professional life and wow! I am so thankful for this wonderful gift.
