The Weatherman

shreveport, laA guy who still sees magic in the world today
When I was a child, my family and I always moved around a lot. Everywhere we went seemed to be suffering from drought. By the time I reached ten, I realized that within a few months of living in a new place, rain would come and I would always hear the weathermen on TV say “Grab an umbrella folks, it hasn’t rained this much in bla bla bla”. When I told my mom this, she smiled and said “Maybe someone in the family is attracting the rain sweetie”. My eyes grew wide at the thought. How cool would it be to be like storm off of the x-men.
Fast forward eight years and four more moves and I am in Oklahoma. Again, a dusty dry area and again rain follows. Finally I sat down on the porch one day, holding my iPhone and playing with Google Translate. I find the Latin word for rain, “pluvia”. I said it, thinking about the rain and how good it feels, imagining listening to the drops patter down the leaves of the oak outside my window. Four days later it started to rain. It could have been a coincidence, but a few days later I tried again. “Pluvia”, I whispered, and three days it poured. I knew I had this power to attract the rain. I’ve been saying pluvia for the past three years, and it has always rained within a week of my asking. It wasn’t until I saw The Secret, and then bought the audio-book, that I understood how and why I could do it. Because I had that blind unwavering faith that I could, I gave myself that ability. Since learning The Secret, I haven’t had to search for a parking spot, wait for an elevator, or ask for money. My mood is improving and I listen to Miss Byrne everyday, absorbing every aspect of the knowledge she’s divulged.
Thanks.
