Thank you For My Life
Submitted by: Mikki
VirginiaI am an educated young woman and I recently began practicing The Secret, though it has been in my life since birth.
I grew up with a difficult childhood, none the less, I flourished. People were certain that because of my hardships I likely would not graduate high school, I would get into drugs, and sex, etc. However, I graduated high school with an excellent GPA, I was accepted into college early with a partial scholarship, I took advanced classes, I now have my dream job, and I am graduating with my Master’s Degree in May 2013. I moved out of my dad’s house by the age of 22.
Right after moving out, I found out my boyfriend of 5 years had cheated on me by being in another relationship for an entire year. I can see how I may have attracted this, he was dishonest in the beginning of our relationship and despite my efforts I did not trust him. This was not the time I found the secret. But, I should say, if it were not for him doing this- I would have never sought internships out of state, which lead me to this dream job.
Less than a year later, I experienced more heart break and this is when two friends recommended “The Secret.” It has been a few months and it wasn’t until this past month that I have really began to study it and understand it and practice it daily. I am not perfect at it, but I refer to The Secret book and movie, The Magic and some books by Jerry & Esther Hicks as well.
Today it occurred to me that my dad always get’s SO lucky. Ever since I was a child he has been, what seems to me like, care free. When my parents got divorced, he had struggled for money. He spoiled me, though. If I needed new clothes, he would take out money from the bank and send me shopping. He often over drew his bank account, at least once a month, and never worried. He always returned the money without ever doing anything illegal or anything like that.
When my parents were married, they owned a condo in a beach town that was near the ocean but did not over look it. He use to say “One day I am going to own a unit in that (and point to the building on the ocean) building.” He owned several homes in neighboring towns that were farther from the ocean but a nice vacation spot none-the-less. He purchased one that he intended to gut and move into one day, but he decided it was too much work. The housing market had began it’s crash and he chose to demolish the existing home. He wanted to get permits to make one lot two, but knew this would be tough because of the neighbors. None the less, he obtained this. I worried that he wouldn’t sell it and he never worried. “It’s going to sell. It has a great location!” Sure enough, not only did it sell in less than 30 days, he made money off of the lots– when everyone else was foreclosing and short selling!!! And guess what? He had enough to buy his condo in THAT building. He now lives there, which brings me to my next story.
My dad called me one day and said “Mikki, whats up?” I said “Just getting off of work.. what are you doing?” “I’m putting stuff in storage. I quit my job and I’m moving to the beach house.” I went into a panic thinking to myself “I am 23, I just started my career, I am still in graduate school! I live paycheck to paycheck.. I can’t support him!” He calmed me and said “It will be fine. I’ll get a job. I’m not worried. It will happen.” And sure enough, he did. Within a week of being there, he not only got a job, but he got a job making more money than he did at his last job.
Every time he goes to a football game, he never worries about getting a parking spot, even though he arrives 10 minutes before kick off. He tels me “My spot is always there waiting.” And it is. Every. Single. Time.
My dad has been practicing The Secret his entire life. And without his practice, I don’t think that I would be where I am, because he always believed in me. He was grateful for the accomplishments I did but always believed I could do more so he told me that. I thought he wasn’t proud, and I wasn’t good enough, but actually, he knew I was capable of more. He believed it. And here I am.
My dad’s use of The Secret has not only provided good things for himself, but for me too. I am so grateful for that.
I am an extremely anxious person and The Secret has taught me to calm down– something my dad has been trying to teach me for years. He had no idea he was using The Secret. He just was very relaxed about life. Now I see how being more relaxed, patient, calm, and having faith, can really make my life even more amazing!
