Universal Guidance And Direction

Modesto, CAI am an adventureous young adult looking to find myself and purpose here. I am generally a very calm happy person. I don't have family, and enjoying life alone.
Please take a moment, as I’d like to share a story with you that changed my life FOREVER.
I was first introduced to The Secret two years ago (2008) browsing Netflix one night I came across the documentary. I had heard of the book, but not the movie and was eager to watch. After the full video, being skeptical like I am, I was eager to put this theory to the test. Immediately the following day I began applying The Secret to my life, and event after event it was surprisingly working. While driving I’d imagine how happy I am that all the traffic lights were green, and while eating out that day at lunch I was imagining how amazing it would be that my fortune cookie would be about making a lot of money. I just assumed everything was a coincidence, but persisted to think about things I wanted to happen in my life.
After I started to use The Secret in my everyday life I began to feel more connected with the universe. Mind you, before this I have never been a very spiritual person, in fact I’ve never even thought about it. I started to feel like the more I used The Secret, the more it worked.
It was time to use it for something bigger, much bigger. Eagerly lying in bed one night, I imagined how amazing it is that I made $100,000 this year. I got excited, jumped up and down like a crazy and made myself believe it was true. The next morning, I did the same thing, and so on every morning and night. I work in a hotel, and met a man a couple of weeks later. I started this connection, let’s call him Mr. Turner. Little did I know he would impact the next 7 months of my life and my world was about to be flipped upside down.
Some time passed, and after chatting with him over a period of two weeks he offered me to stay in his guest house as he worked out of state and needed someone to maintain his car and help assist with the showings for the house as he was trying to sell it. The house eventually sold and Mr. Turner moved me to another home. I was still chanting my phrase every morning and evening ( when I could concentrate the most) “I’m very happy, this year I made $100,000, it’s an amazing year!”
Four months later, it happened. Mr. Turner knew I had been very interested in working for his company out of state, and he called me up to offer me an interview for a position. Being 21 this was the best opportunity I had ever been offered and life changing. I continued to chant the same exact phrase I had started almost a year prior with even more hope and confidence. If I got this job I would easily make 100k to 300k in a years work. Not having a degree, and only one job prior, everything felt unreal. I went in for training for two weeks and was ready to start. Everything seemed to be on track, and I was in line for my goal I had been asking the universe for so graciously. I had no idea my life was about to be flipped again, in a whole new directly, and oh so quickly.
My training had finished and I was scheduled to start the next morning. I was feeling great and my division manager seemed to be impressed with how smoothly the training went.
That same night, when going to bed, I lied there thinking about how quickly everything had changed and how kind the universe was being to me. And it hit me, in the back of my mind, I began to have doubts. Taking this job meant a huge obligation, I would be tied down here, working six days a week and making great money, but there were some things I had dreamed of doing before I was to take such a large job. I had dreams of visiting Europe. I wanted to live there and experience the culture. I have also always wanted to try to enter the fashion industry but never found an opening and didn’t bother to try. I didn’t do my chant that night, and my brain was overwhelmed. I knew I had to take this job, it was such a great opportunity.
The next morning, I woke up got dressed and put on my newly polished shoes. Ready to make some money but without a call to the universe yet again. I remember this so specifically. I went in for work, and that very morning I was leaving the firm without a job. The owner retracted his offer stating that they really don’t need me anymore, and they were going to hire somebody more qualified. He apologized, I packed my bags and flew back home. My goal for 100k was no longer in reach, in fact it had never seemed further away.
I went home with nothing but broken dreams, and felt like my life was worthless. I was suffering from traumatic depression and I remember wanting nothing more than to lay in the ocean, and let it carry me away.
Another two months of this passed, and I received a call. It was from my old employer at the hotel. She said she had heard what happened and desperately needed my help. I couldn’t deny as I had no money, but also I loved my job there and went back to my old life. I still had no doubts about The Secret, but I had just stopped using it for a while. Then it occurred to me, as soon as I changed my dreams and feelings of what I wanted, my life split in two like a fault through the earth. I was torn, but it had been healing without me realizing it.
Today is October 30th 2012, and my last day at the hotel. On November 29th, I leave for Europe with my large savings, and I already have 3 appointments with different agencies to visit while I’m there.
I feel as though the universe and I have a stronger connection than ever, and I have began to trust everything that happens in my life even if it seems bad. In fact I feel so connected that I am very careful about the things that I think about now. As I have experienced in the past, one sudden change of heart can result in an alteration of one’s life path.
My advice; if you want The Secret to work for you, you must trust it every day and know that things aren’t always completely clear. Be patient, and don’t give up.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story, and I hope it is able to help someone achieve their ambitions someday.
