From Playful To Powerful
Submitted by: John K
Overton, NVA father of 5 and husband eternal, I am a man like many others who simply strives to do his best.
My wife and I were introduced to The Secret by my mother roughly four years ago. We had made a trip to Texas with our kids to see about possibly moving there. It turned out to be a bad move on our part. On the trip back to Nevada (we were driving) my mother gave us, The Secret, on CD to listen to. After listening the entire trip back, we were hooked and dumbfounded that we had never considered the possibility that thought could be so powerful. For months afterwards we practiced the techniques and manifested the parking spots and always found ourselves with money when we needed it. I listened to it in the car to and from work (3 hour round trip), and it did bring me success in my work.
We did however fall back into our old routines and some of the grander thoughts and desires we had seemed to refuse to come to us. One thing we never let go of was the thought of minding our thoughts. Though today I am not yet a millionaire, I have in the last 2 years built my job into a respectable income and have the added benefit of a home office. I have attracted the people and all the right tools to pursue starting my own business, and even though my first attempt did not provide me the launch I wanted, I have never given up. In fact my disappointments have proven to be my steps to finding the right path.
I am writing this because tonight, while launching my second funding campaign, I finally got it. I now understand the whole time thing. I never stopped thinking about my success, but I also never stopped thinking about what else I needed to do to be successful. I always felt it was farther down the line (yup, wish granted) and looking back I realize I am getting what I always wanted the most.
I wanted to leave my job when they were successful enough to stand without me, almost there. I wanted to be hands on in my product development and hire people, create jobs, be the boss I dreamed of. My first attempt to launch was far from this, it was outsourced work and not what I really wanted, henceforth I didn’t get it, thankfully. Tonight I am taking steps to attain my dreams in ways that feel good to me, and I know as long as I hold to this vision, it is already mine. What I’ve come to realize about time is that it only exists when we are not following our own directions.
