All I Know Is That It Exists

Hong KongI was a introvert person with little confidence. The re-reading of THE SECRET has impacted my life hugely. I am even shocked by myself. I CAN'T TELL YOU MUCH ABOUT THE POWER, ALL I KNOW IS THAT IT EXISTS.
I was an average student in the past, the teachers used to describe me as ‘diligent’. To me, I was so tired of being ‘normal’, I wanted to be outstanding and most importantly, the very best that I could possibly be. Three years ago, I received The Secret as a gift from my English teacher. The first time that I read it I did not understand much and left it on my bookshelf. A year later I was sent to the UK to study abroad and I was not sure why at the time I brought The Secret with me but this book has hugely changed my life.
In the UK, I started to build up my confidence, from climbing up the pole in a high ropes course to achieving many things that I have never thought before. Every night before I go to bed, I give myself half an hour reading The Secret. This book really makes me realize how good life is, how awesome I can be and many things such as passion are much more important than materialistic stuffs like money.
During my two years time in the UK, one most important thing that I learnt is PASSION. To me, this explains the difference between good and great. A person can always be hard-working, but he may not have that attitude and heart. This belief has helped me in overcoming my long-term low self esteem and my life in UK was so good that I could hardly imagine.
Below is a short list of achievements which I am really proud of:
1) Doing my ABRSM flute grade 7 and 8 exams, and get distinctions for both of them within 5 months (I was really bad at music when I first started learning to play the flute, I just merely passed in my first exam)
2) Being awarded the Chemistry student of the Year and Outstanding Musician of the Year among the whole year group of over 100 students
3) Being invited for an interview from the University of Cambridge (though I must say the whole experience is not easy, from bursting into tears when I received the invitation letter, to getting into pool system – a system designed for good applicants but do not have enough places due to oversubscription of the course and finally to rejection from the university. Though it is full of ups and downs throughout thw whole experience, but when I look back, I quite enjoy it because I heavily involve in the whole experience with my emotions. Also, I am very grateful for this experience, considering the fact that I have Ds in my Hong Kong GCSEs.
This truly tells me that WITH HARDWORK AND PASSION, I CAN BE ANYTHING I WANT.
During my time in UK, I also discovered my interest in exploring the field of Psychology. Without any proper learning of this subject, my passion motivates me to send hundreds of emails to professors in institutions, asking for any possible internships that they could offer. And guess what, I got offered a position and commendation from some of them despite a few discouraging replies. BUT ANYWAY, NO ONE CAN STOP ME IN PURSUING MY DREAM. WHO SAYS THE SKY IS THE LIMIT WHEN HUMANS CAN FLY TO THE MOON!
