What You Need Rather Than What You Want

U.S.A.I'm all about exploring, discovering, observing, thinking, wondering, and travelling. Especially travelling. And, so you get a general background; I am a senior in high school in the U.S.A.
The Secret did not give me what I wanted-it gave me what I needed.
And that is more than I could have ever hoped for.
I will admit I was selfish. Completely, and utterly selfish. When I first discovered The Secret a while ago, my first thought was “I can use this to get the person I want.” For a person was the object of my desire. The problem was, this person and I were unhealthy for each other. We didn’t have a healthy relationship to begin with but that’s the funny thing about love (or so I thought) was that it never goes the way you believe it should.
So I spent a few weeks imagining myself and this person back together again. I didn’t spend much time being grateful for what I had-a big mistake-and instead put much energy and focus onto just one thing. It worked, to some extent. The person and I started talking again, some flirtation included, but, after a couple weeks, we weren’t completely together again.
That’s when someone else came into my life. Someone I hadn’t noticed before who started speaking to me. And they were kind, and they had my sense of humor and opinions and ideas, and soon enough, they asked me on a date.
And I felt that great feeling…suddenly realizing you were being simply stupid.
How stupid I was, for so long, to put so much focus onto someone who was so, so, wrong for me. Someone who made me feel down and left me to dry. And here was this fantastic person who actually wanted to be with me.
And that’s when I realized I got what I needed. I needed to see that what I wanted was unhealthy. I needed to see I can get what I want, but those things have to be good for me. I deserve that. I am a good person, I just needed for it to be made clear.
And that’s the point of this story. When you are using The Secret to envision what you desire, please, please, please have it be good for you. Realize what you need to begin a better life. Let go of unhealthy situations or desires. I am now in a much better please, and am so much happier. I am getting what I want now.
Realize what is good. Be thankful. And enjoy life!
