Relocation

Ottawa, ON, CanadaI am a married work-at-home mom of two kids who realized she controlled her destiny in certain areas but has now begun to bring that philosophy into every facet of life.
My husband and I had been living far away from all family members for years due to his job. In that time we began a family and really started to feel the distance from those we loved most. We decided to look at the possibility of him getting transferred but we always told we would not get the city we wanted or the job we wanted.
As we applied for positions in cities we did not really want to live in, I kept my focus on one city in particular, even though there were no openings in that area. One position we thought we had a great chance of getting (again, in the wrong city) suddenly fell through and we thought we would never get a chance to move.
Suddenly a couple of weeks later we found out our chosen city had opened up multiple positions, which we would never had been able to apply for had the first opportunity happened. But the jobs available there were not as equal. We were still getting offers from the other areas, and at the point where we let it go to the universe that all would be o.k. – we got offered a great position, in the right city, IMMEDIATELY!
Well, we were ecstatic but the story does not end there.
In this city, my sister lived and we really wanted to relocate close to her. There were some house available but none that were in the right price range and with the right requirements for our family. One house stood out for me and I started to focus on it. The only two issues I had was an office on the main floor (which I did not need) and hardwood floors up the stairs and on the second levels (we have small kids and a dog – so I wished for only hardwood on the main floor).
I made my wish, wrote the list out of what this house had. And even wrote the street down, as in “I would like to live on So-and-so St.”
That house was sold before we were ready to buy. I was crushed. It took some time to feel better but I figured it was not my house, and again, gave it over to the universe.
In the end, when we were ready to buy, we found a house with all the same aspects of the house I liked, PLUS, no office on the main floor and carpet on the stairs and second floor! And for less than the first house. And the best part is….
I DO live on So-and-so St., just 10 houses down. 🙂
