Life after domestic violence

Danville, KYA woman who has lived through hell and back, but I keep moving forward every day to my new journey!
Seven years ago, I was living on egg shells with my now ex-husband. One night we had a terrible fight. The next day, I went to visit a friend; she pleaded with me to leave my husband and move in with her. I sat there for hours contemplating what I should do. I was scared to leave and scared to go back home. My friend and I went for a short ride in my truck, which at the time was driving just fine. After arriving back at her home, about 30 minutes later, I dreadfully decided that it was time to go back home. To my utter surprise, when I tried to start my truck to leave, the truck would not start. I felt this was the universe making the decision for me. I decided that was going to be the night that I would not go back home. This was the start to my new life.
After my divorce I had the opportunity to go to college, something that I wished for for a long time. I became a licensed massage therapist. I tried to go on with my new life, however for the next five years after my divorce, my ex would stalk me. It was a very creepy situation.
About two years ago, I had to make another life change and move to a new town and leave my friends and family behind to get away from him. When I arrived to my new home, I had tried to start up a massage therapy business. I didn’t know a soul and I wasn’t really familiar with the town. I did not have the money for advertising. I secretly wanted a radio commercial with the local stations, but I just didn’t have the funds. Needless to say after about three months in business, I failed and had to close up shop.
I’m sure that my emotions did not help me much at that time, as I was very stressed with being in a new and unfamiliar place. I was very scared and nervous. After all, I was a single mother trying to make it on my own with no help.
Anyway, last month I decided to give the business another try. My intuition told me to go to another massage business that I had once tried when I first came to town. At the time that I had tried to rent a room there, the owner had the extra room already occupied by someone else. This time, the room was empty and I was able to walk right in and start my own practice.
Within less than two weeks of being in business a radio advertiser had scheduled a massage with me. After the massage, he approached me with a barter idea to have my own radio commercial. I was elated over this idea and quickly agreed.
I have heard of The Secret before, but I never had the desire to read it. I recently decided to watch the movie and it didn’t take me long to realize that everything that has happened to me, the good and the bad, was because of my own thoughts. I ordered the book yesterday and I plan to put the information into action, now that I know it does work!
