The car inspection
Submitted by: Oscar Belmo
Annandale, VirginiaI am an unknown believer of the SECRET, secretly. Meaning, that it has been in me all my life and I never knew it, until I read it here on this web-site. But irregardless, it works and I believe in it.
My daughters car had been parked for quite some time, because it was not able to pass the State Inspection. Her husband took the car to the shop where he was quoted $700.00 to have it ready to pass the inspection. Well, not having the cash he decided to get rid of it (I am talking about a 1998, C-230 Mercedez Benz ). The car is not in too much of a bad shape, body or interior wise, but it does have some minor deficiencies such as front end, brake pads, tie-rods, your typical wear and tear parts on any car.
My daughter lives in Virginia, and I live in Florida. She told me about the car, and I told her to let it stay where it was parked, on the street, of course, because the complex where she lives would not allow her to park it on site, since it was not properly inspected.
When I visit my daughter, up from Florida, I would normally help her out with say $200.00, sometimes $300.00 dollars or whatever I may have. This time I gave her, $300.00, which she gave me right back to go get the car inspected. I then proceeded to the filling station to have the car re-inspected because the rejection sticker that was on it had elapsed. The guy that was going to inspect the car said to me, “your back brakes are no good, you need to get them fixed”. I then asked him if he could do it, he said yes; he then added that he would charge me $75.00 and that I would have to buy the pads. The pads cost $81.00 plus tax at Pep Boys, if the store have them in stock. Of course the store I went to did not have them in stock, which means that I would have to go somewhere else to get these pads.
Now here is where The Secret started to kick in for me. I must say that it happened literally sub-consciously and jet-propulsion fast, so fast that I did not even realize it happening. I left The Pep Boys store I was in, and I was on my way to Marlow Heights Maryland, to get these pads, when all of a sudden it hit me; I remembered about another car part store that I used to go to some time ago. I made an immediate U-turn and headed in that direction, please dont ask me why, please! WHAT was it that caused that sudden change of mind? Why was I going in the direction I was going in, when it was the wrong direction in the first place, and I had never even given it a thought. I knew I was very desperate to get the car repaired. I also knew that I did not have too much money to do it with. But any way I just followed my instinct and that feeling that got me to where I was going. It was as if I could have closed my eyes and got there any way.
Now, as I entered the parking lot off the main street heading to the store, I saw a lot of people walking around the lot, some were working on cars, others were talking to each other. I stopped one of the guys right there in the lot and I said to him, “Hey how much would you charge me to slap some brakes on the rear of this car, the guy said $35.00 I said to him let me go get them and I will be right back. I went into the store got the pads, and stepped back out of the store where I met the guy mid way in the lot as if he thought I was going to get lost. In less than a half hour the brakes were on the car. I then asked him, if they do shocks also, and of course he said yes. Well, needless to say that I had those shocks in my hands faster than he could have said hop to it. He put the shocks on for $50.00! And gave me his number to call him if I have any additional work in the future.
Imagine, that. From $700.00 dollars to $90.00 plus parts; I gave the guy $5.00 tip and promised to grease his palm even more the next time I go see him. I took the car back to the shop to have it inspected, and it passed with flying colors. THE SECRET WORKS, I AM A WITNESS.
