Dear Readers,
I was in despair, angry and full of resentment. We lost our home, cars and our self-respect when we declared bankruptcy. I felt the universe had given up on me, I prayed that our house would sell, that money would save us from our desperate situation. My husband was unemployed and struggling with alcoholism and I was at home with a new baby. No family and most that cared, I had pushed away. I prayed for an answer and we decided bankruptcy was the only way out.
A new beginning.
During our transition, I stumbled on Oprah and the book The Secret. At first, I was skeptical, I was jaded by my anger. But the seed was planted, I eventually saved enough to purchase the book.
We were slowly climbing out of rock bottom and I was desperately searching for inspiration. I read The Secret every night, my husband lay beside me, asked me to read to him, so I did. We began to share ideas, share affirmations, smile and look at each other and say things like “Thoughts become things”…
WE started taking responsibility for our actions for our bankruptcy…We lived beyond our means, we rushed into a big house without looking at the big picture, we kept borrowing without paying, and I leaned hard on my husband to save us. The bankruptcy saved us.
Two years later, we are still renting, in another home, we love our little house, my husband and I are closer than ever. We are now expecting baby #2 and we feel more equipped to give life, and share our lives with another. I recently read “The Science of Getting Rich” and “Law of Attraction” to better help me build my skills in changing my thought process. It is hard when you have been negative for so long, but my husband and I are working on attracting positive people, on loving ourselves, on attracting an ideal financial situation, on showing gratitude and embracing all that comes our way!
I want to thank all those who have planted the seed; Oprah, Rhonda, Robert, Wallace and the students that inspire me every day! We are on a stepping stone to enlightenment and it feels great! May the journey continue! To all those who are struggling financially , it will get better, just believe and embrace the lessons that come your way!
