Perth, Western AustraliaI have a really amazing story. My husband and I have three children. Kalan aged 12, Locki aged 5 and Leah aged 4.
Recently we lost everything. Not a great time of the year to lose everything but we had read The Secret before and decided to give it another try. I received a copy of ‘The Power’ and also The Secret to Teen Power’. I wanted my 12 year old son to read Teen Power as he has been so depressed and sad for a while now. He is bullied at school and is a little over weight.
All doom and gloom for a 12 year old. Life is way too hard and nothing ever goes his way. My husband and I have found it very hard to keep the faith going within the family after our setback and I decided it was time for a very fast change.
My books arrived and I started to read to my son every night. I read The Power to myself every morning. My son is very difficult to turn around as far as his spirit is concerned and I struggled to make him believe in anything other than the unfairness of the world around him. I was at my wits end. Then I decided to use The Power to get him to really read and hear The Secret to Teen Power.
I used everything I could to send him the love and confidence to take a chance and believe that he was worth more than how the kids at his school made him feel. I sent passion for life and love of family and friends. I used my imagination and pretended how he would be after he read the book and took it all in and believed in it. I read to him every night and kept reading to him when he had fallen asleep. I was there in the morning when he opened his eyes to smile and talk to him about how lucky I was and how grateful I am that I have him.
After a month of this I was starting to doubt my hard work and my own belief. How could I possibly help someone who did not want to help themselves? How could I make him want to help himself and try? I knew I couldn’t make him, but I thought I could help him believe.
Then on the morning that I came out of his room without a smile on my face because he had woken in an even glummer mood and sat with my head in my hands in despair, I felt a tap on my shoulder. When I turned around I felt all the love and all the gratitude I had the very first time he had smiled at me when he was a baby. He had this big smile on his face and he had his arms held out to me. I hugged him and he thanked me for helping him. He told me he had had an “awesome dream” about the bully of the school shaking his hand and telling him he was “ok”.
He said he liked the way it felt to have this cool kid accept him. But most of all he said he liked how it felt to stand up for him self and not be walked all over.
He went to school that day humming.
When he got home I asked him how his day was. He said it was great! He was happy all day and thought good thoughts towards the bully and by lunch time the bully kid was asking him if he would like to come play four square with him.
He believed!!!!!! The rest was easy. He joined a basketball team and has slimmed down. He has made a few new friends at the basketball and is happier than I have ever seen him.
Thank you to the team at The Secret, you made this possible for me and my family. I will forever be grateful and bless you all.
